The general description of above diversity is as follow;
A - Support to Tendering Department of ONEIC
Providing support to the Tendering Department of ONEIC for the portion of the tender entrusted to the
Civil Department. Attend site visits sponsored by the Client, revisit sites to assess the commercial and
technical impacts, collect market rates for proprietary materials, provide unit rate analysis for
construction items and enter rates in the BOQ of tender documents. Develop technical documents as
per tender requirements; provide resource histograms, detailed construction programs, management
hierarchy and construction methodology for the specific project. Review the completed tender
document before submission defining share of profits, financial charges, insurance charges and
constitute the final price confidentially for the tender prior to sealing and submission of tender
documents to the Client.
During 2010 dealt with 32 Tenders.
B - Support the Engineering Department of ONEIC
The Engineering department of ONEIC is mainly related to Electrical & Mechanical expertise. Therefore
they require Civil Engineering support to construct the project utility buildings and related infrastructure
before the E&M works go in. As such the construction of utility building, utility foundations, compound
works, road works, culverts, cable trenches and related MEP works for the utility buildings etc. become
the responsibility of the Civil Department.
The Civil department either executes these works in-house or subcontracts.
All EPC project having civil engineering design components are lead by taking up the subcontracting
the Civil Design components. Subcontracts are floated for consultancy of civil and related MEP designs
which are received, evaluated, selected fulfilling the requirements of the tender. The selected design
service agency is monitored with their progress in submitting and getting approvals of the designs
along with their support for clarifications during the construction stage. The design consultants further
provide design documents and drawings for building and excavation permits and for outsourcing the
civil & related MEP works.
The Civil & MEP works are either done in-house or subcontracted as may be situation. Resource
histograms, detailed construction programs, management hierarchy and construction methodology for
the specific project are provided. Follow up with updated and revised construction programs and
resource histogram till final completion of the project. Deploy Civil engineers at site. Impart specialized
training to the Client’s representatives.
Preparing Extension of Time Claims for all the projects. Preparing Recovery Programs, Delay Impacted
Programs and responding to clarifications raised by the Client/Consultant on the submitted EOT claims.
Preparation of Operation & Maintenance Plan for Sohar Sewage Treatment Plant for 2010.
During the year 2010 dealt with 14 projects under above scope.
C - Civil projects undertaken directly from the Client
The Civil Department also bids directly for infrastructure and utility building project. Under this situation
support is taken from Engineering Department especially for external power supply and other electrical
& mechanical scope under their expertise.
