•Hurghada International Airport, Egypt.
Project Description: Design for a new passenger terminal building (TB) for international and domestic flights, with an overall capacity of 7.5 million passengers/year with a total built-up area of 91, 500 m². The terminal building accommodates, on 3 levels, all relevant facilities and services with direct landside and airside interfaces. It includes 9 contact gates with passenger loading bridges, 72 check-in counters in addition 36 passport control booths for departure and arrival, 9 inbound baggage claim carrousels and 6 outbound baggage conveyors with the appropriate baggage handling system. The TB incorporates the latest information technology and airport-related equipment, including communication systems, baggage handling system, fire detection and fire-fighting systems, specialized air-conditioning and ventilation systems, standby power generation, etc. The Airport is designed architecturally by French company named ADPi. Air distribution was non-traditional in this project as we use air totems (air columns) because of the architectural fancy ceiling. Cooling capacity of this project was 4500 tons of refrigerants served from a remote central plant using air cooled screw chillers.
