Waste systems commissioning engineer
I am working within a team consisting of multi-disciplined Contractors & sub-contractors undertaking complex work. This predominantly involves the oversight & coordination of installation of equipment into the purpose built ITER research facility to enable the development of FUSION energy.
• Responsible for supervision of multi-disciplined construction & commissioning activities
• Ensuring a site wide compliance of ITER procedures
• Responsible for the collation, implementation & submission of work safety plans
• Ensuring that technical queries are raised, answered & closed out
• Aiding in the collation, witnessing & sign off of quality plans
• Attending of daily/weekly/yearly coordination & planning meetings
• Site safety walk downs with client & contractor to identify areas for improvement
• Collation and acceptance of project handover documentation to client
• Identification & Implementation of cross boundary agreements between the project permit office & plant permit office
• Working alongside the permit office to safely Isolate plant & equipment safely & securely
• Ensuring that all construction works have been completed with no outstanding issues
• Team Leader of a Multi-disciplined team of engineers, providing commissioning and pre-operations capability for:
Mechanical handling plant and associated electrical and control systems,
HVAC, robotic and hydraulic remote handling equipment.
Boom cranes.
Flask hoists.
CCTV and process monitoring equipment.
• Facilitated and Managed Task Risk Assessments via stakeholder plant walk downs, hazard screening of procedures/instructions/manuals, ensuring all foreseeable risks were identified and the necessary risk reduction measures were implemented
• Team Leader for Commissioning and Pre-operations for input into Project Management, Engineering, Construction and Procurement to ensure commissioning requirements were incorporated into project activities.
• Responsible for the creation of Commissioning Programme, including vendor support, testing durations and estimated costs.
• Technical responsibility for ensuring that all vendor supplied Factory Acceptance Test documentation was fit for purpose.
• Attended multiple design reviews for commissioning, maintainability and operability of various systems
• Managed the production and approval of all Commissioning procedures for CE&I system verification/function performance testing
• Deputized for Commissioning Manager on multiple occasions and chaired various meetings, including the Test and Commissioning Panel for the agreed programme.
• Responsible for Setting to Work and Site Acceptance Testing of process plant and equipment including Vacuum Furnaces, Access Interlocks, and PLC/Relay based Control Systems.
• Successfully commissioned the upgraded C1/C2 Ventilation System comprising of new ‘relay based’ control panel and VFDs, Flow/Humidity/Temperature Instrumentation and Stack Monitoring System.
• Ensured vendor supplied equipment functioned as per the design intent, complied with the relevant site/external standards and user requirements prior to release to site.
• Supervised contractors, vendors and commissioning specialist tests, including Tensile Test, High Strain Rate, Electron Microscopes.
• Provided training and support to facility personnel where appropriate, pre, during and post all commissioning phases.
Leading a team of multi-disciplined Engineers
•Responsible for delivering the full range of technical and quality testing/certification activities to ensure Standards are achieved and assets are handed over to end users ‘Fit for purpose', meeting all inactive and active operational and safety requirements
•Sellafield Intelligent customer ensuring that contractors comply with all applicable site license conditions whilst also advising on hazard screening and SSOW
•Collation and acceptance of project handover documentation
•Ensuring all necessary training is available and complete prior to handover
•Co-ordinate supply chain, internal project team and operations team to deliver all required commissioning activities
•Deputies for Commissioning Team Leader as required briefing team and chairing of meetings
•Provide continuous skills and knowledge development for Commissioning Engineer Team
•Nominated Representative responsible for ensuring that the Contractor is suitably qualified and experienced and carries out all activities in accordance with the contract works.
Responsible for ensuring commission test schedules are prepared, completed and documented
•Recommending and organising remedial work, as required, to deliver safe fit for purpose assets at the point of handover
•Organising and managing a team of commissioning technicians to provide a 24hr shift cover to achieve project timescales
•Managing factory acceptance testing for various equipment
•Lead Engineer for scheduling multi-disciplinary asset care team
•Nominated POW responsible for organising work safety plans, SSOW, Risk assessments, pre job briefs and post job reviews
Responsible for Level 2 Commissioning activities including provision and maintenance of certificates and commissioning documentation
•Responsible for certification of Level 3 Commissioning activities
