- Responsible for all aspects of on-going Hill International operations in Egypt. Services provided vary from Project Management, Construction Management, Site Supervision and Master Planning for museum, factory, hotels, housing and resorts projects. Further assisted in Business Development in acquiring market share in sub-Saharan region and establishing new business line for facilities management company. Key aspect of position was monitoring projects performance in accordance with the prime contract and Hill procedures, the staffing of personnel the projects, monitoring cashflow and timely payment of invoices.
- Responsible for all aspects of on-going Hill International operations in Libya. Services
provided vary from Project Management, Construction Management, Site Supervision and
Master Planning for higher education facilities, housing and resorts. Further responsibility
for Business Development and increasing market share of region. Key aspects of position
included staffing of personnel to satisfy the Project’s needs, defining and value
engineering the client’s vision and development of comprehensive execution plans that
achieve the client’s objectives.
- Oversaw the operation of a steel fabrication factory and construction / erection division
focused on the cement factory sector. Projects were located in Sudan, Egypt, Algeria and
Morocco.
- Re-structured and re-organized a distressed private sector company with a quasi-public
sector mentality & strengthened financial position through the implementation of
integrated systems & work flow processes with emphasis on improving of site
performance, contract management, quality and budget compliance via best practices in
both procedures and operation.
- Role involved identifying root cause problems/challenges as well as developing and
monitoring the implementation of the various corrective action plans. Focus was applied to
each department within the Organization including site operations, factory operations,
technical services, supply chain, finance and human resources. Reduced the overhead
budget by 20-25% from the prior year’s budget via a 10% staff reduction from 3600 to less
than 3300, elimination of waste factors, and improved management / monitoring of
operation’s project controls monitoring/reporting & contract administration.
- Managed projects within Egypt, Algeria and the West Bank. Oversaw and managed the
execution, financial and profitability reporting, resource management as well as business
development. Assumed role as Program Manager for the Iraq Reconstruction Program -
Transportation Sector Joint Venture for start-up and the establishment of a joint venture
group.
- Involved in problem solving and claims management for areas outside his realm of
operations dealing with US government agencies including Army Corp of Engineers
(USACE) and Agency for International Development (USAID).
- Also directly involved in the start-up and launching of a new residential / commercial
building business line and a facility management business line.
City Stars
- Program Manager for the CityStars Project, an $800 MN. Mixed-use commercial
development comprised of 3 hotels, 8 residential/office towers, 450, 000 m2 commercial
center including cinemas, theme park, specialty restaurants and health club facilities.
Management responsibilities included design management, tendering, construction
management, FF&E procurement and operational planning
Amby Valley
- Provided management and coordination oversight of the planning and execution of a
destination resort/retirement community development east of Mumbai. Involved in master
planning and feasibility study, with special emphasis on the provision of utilities as well as
the main arterial roadways and infrastructure, 3 dams, golf complex, a light aircraft airport,
chalets and model villas.
2000
- Responsible for policy development, and coordination of project-wide construction issues
related to 50 construction contracts varying in volume from $25 - 500 MN. in support of
the construction of the $15 Bn. Central Artery Tunnel Project. Reported and represented
the Manager of Construction with external agencies for environmental, traffic
management, life safety, labor compliance, and insurance issues. Oversaw, coordinated
and managed the completion of the second major project milestone, a bridge across
Charles River involving five construction contracts, as the Program Milestone Manager.
- Construction of a $130 MN. project comprised of a mixed-use building, parking garage,
ventilation building and renovation of 2 operating subway stations beneath the building
footprint.
- Managed the project controls functions for the commercial buildings business line
including job surveys, budget development and estimating, value engineering, progress
reporting and contract administration
Managed the construction of a previously suspended $150 MN, 260 room, Ritz Carlton
Hotel project completing on time and under budget.
Le Méridien Hotel
- Managed $40 MN. rehabilitation, expansion and upgrade of the Pyramids Holiday Inn - a
524 room hotel.
Construction management of a suspended $75 MN, 350 room conference center/hotel.
