Based in the United Arab Emirates, initially supporting 2no major and complex Programs in Saudi Arabia before becoming the Lead Recruiter for the Yanbu Industrial City Program which saw Parsons as the overall Program Manager alongside the Saudi Royal Commission. I took overall responsibility for the recruitment of Design, Engineering, Construction Supervision, Project Management, Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality, Urban Planning, Contracts / Commercial Staff along with other sections such as Crisis & Disaster Management, IT and Finance. I successfully introduced personnel of all nationalities including Saudi Arabian Nationals & Western Expatriates
Specific responsibilities include:
• Work closely with the Hiring Managers to understand and fill their staffing requirements.
• Manage and own full recruitment cycle.
• Lead regular Recruitment Update Meetings ensuring each meeting has value to each Hiring Manager.
• Provide influence and strategy with complex hiring decisions.
• Screen and evaluate candidates against the requirements and briefs provided.
• Identify qualified candidates.
• Full control of the interview process.
• Respond to candidates’ queries and give them positive experience of our recruitment process.
• Full negotiation and presentation of offers to all levels of selected candidates.
• Develop talent pools on assigned positions.
• Liaise with mobilization team to ensure candidates will be onboarded as per target dates.
Short term role based in London with a Small to Medium sized M&E Contractor with a primary focus on domestic and commercial heating and ventilation services. Primary duties included recruitment of staff, full onboarding and induction of new staff, all HR Administration and overseeing aspects of disciplinary and grievance issues.
Undertook voluntary work during the onset of Covid-19.
The bulk of this period was spent working with a leading UAE Based Recruitment Agent (NSR Associates) specializing within the Construction and Civil Engineering Industry across all sectors including infrastructure, buildings, fit-out, power. Primarily covering the MENA Region as well as activity in UK, Europe, South East Asia and North America.
Relocation from South East Asia to Middle East, undertaking short term / consultancy assignments with Consultants and Contractors located in Malaysia, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Leighton was one of the world’s largest Construction and Engineering Contractors. An Australian Company by origin with an international reach across AsiaPac, South East Asia, Central and Subcontinental Asia and the Middle East. Leighton operates across almost all sectors of the Construction and Civil Engineering Industry including major buildings, heavy and complex infrastructure schemes, mining, power, energy and offshore pipeline installations. Project values would typically range from $80-100m up to $1bnUS.
I joined the Leighton International Business shortly after its purchase of a 45% stake in Habtoor Engineering (A leading and instantly recognizable Contractor in the Middle East) and initially positioned within the Habtoor Leighton Abu Dhabi Business before taking on a role in the Corporate HR Teams of Leighton International and Leighton Asia based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
My role oversaw the full ‘end to end’ recruitment and resourcing cycle - from the discussion of manpower plans through to onboarding of new staff (for all levels of ‘white collar’ personnel from Graduate to Executive Level) across South East Asia and India as well as projects in the Middle East and Africa.
At peak I had a team of 3no direct reports as well as 2no indirect reports.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:
• The hire of over 90 mid to senior level expatriate staff across projects in Abu Dhabi over a 12 month period in support of a major increase in the volume and significance of projects in HLG.
• On the award of a new project, I was responsible for the recruitment and mobilization of large project teams often involving 30-40 new project staff per month.
• The mobilization of a major multi-million dollar Offshore / Onshore Pipeline & SBM Installation Scheme in Iraq.
• Full mobilization of a large pipelay vessel over the course of a single weekend.
• Successful mobilization of the initial Senior Team into Astana, Kazakhstan to undertake the project services including mine planning and development and contract mining of a major iron ore deposit.
• Demobilization and close out of an offshore pipeline project in Malacca, Malaysia.
• Production of company compensations and benefits strategy.
• During 2013 - 2014 Leighton Asia, India & Offshore ‘self-built’ its own Shared Service Operating Model to cover the HR, Finance, IT and Administration services within the organization. I was a key member during the establishment of this and once operational was positioned as the Recruitment / Talent Acquisition ‘Functional Lead’
A leading, UK based, Construction Recruitment Consultancy focused on the UK and International Markets. Joined as a Trainee Consultant and progressed to Branch Manager with the key role and function being the management of an international candidate and client database, including the specific, account management of primary, blue-chip contractors in both the UK and International markets.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Instantaneous success of the Dubai Office underlined by its contribution to the financial success of Hill McGlynn and it’s positioning thereafter for its purchase by a major recruitment conglomerate in 2009.
• Selected as key member of staff in the opening of new offices in the UK and International Markets.
• Management of successful Recruitment Teams.
