My job responsibilities included but were not limited to:
• Provide Project Planning / Scheduling support services for the Projects.
• Establish and maintain Project control plans and schedules, including Project Master Plan,
Gant Charts, progress S-Curves and risk register for reporting to SEC Senior Management.
• Review the Project Plan & Schedule provided by contractors and monitor the Project
Performance.
• Review EOT (extension of time) claim submitted by contractors.
• To ensure that changes are introduced in the project through proper change control
process.
• Receive, check and analyze the variation orders (VO).
• Check and verify the contractor monthly invoices.
• Perform IAP (Impacted As-Planned Analysis) where and whenever required
• Analyze and propose improvements to contractor schedules, including use of critical path
analysis and resource loading.
• Monitor and report progress against the Project control schedules.
• Closely monitor the contractor procurement schedule and periodically highlight the
critical and important deliveries.
• To make sure the contractor has required resources available as per available work front.
• To make sure the RFIs are raised by contractor immediately after deliveries of
equipment. Also to ensure the RFIs are attended by SEC Consultants within proper time
frame.
• To ensure that work is being executed at site exactly as per approved design and quality.
• Generate plan and schedule summaries and similar presentational material as required by
the SEC Higher/Top Management.

• Update overall progress, preparing detailed daily, weekly and monthly reports for SEC
Senior and Top Management.
• Review and approve the Project Plans and Schedules for other projects as instructed from
SEC Head Office.
• Hold Weekly Progress Meetings with Contractors at all six (6) Project Sites.
• Guide contractor well ahead about any unforeseen issues related to designs, procurement
and construction activities.
• Properly guide the contractor about trouble shooting the issues related to coordination
with other Government agencies.
• Maintain the record (both in hard and soft form) for all approved drawings and submittals
from SEC.
• To make sure the contractor is executing all project jobs in-line with PTS and SEC
Standard requirements.

Established & financed by AL-Ghurair Group of Companies / ETA Ascon, UAE, Star Power
Generation Ltd. (SPGL) was a special purpose built company for construction of 133.5 MW
combined cycle power plant in Sindh province of Pakistan.
The complex was designed to operate on 2+1 configuration i.e. 2 Gas Turbines (each 43.25
MW, GE, Frame 6B) designed for low BTU gas utilization, 1 Steam Turbine (47 MW Siemens
condensing steam turbine), Heat Recovery Steam Generator, Step-up Sub-Station for
interconnection with National Grid and associated control, protection and instrumentation
systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities included but were not limited to:
• Preparing RFP for EPC contractors for execution of project on turnkey bases; analyze the
proposals, and assisting the top management in detailed financial / commercial /
technical negotiations with selected contractors.
• Preparing RFP for laying and commissioning of Mari Deep Gas pipeline on EPC contract
bases, analyze the proposals and finalizing the contractor after detailed financial /
commercial /technical study and negotiations.
• Invite proposals from different contractors for operation & maintenance of power plant,
analyze the proposals, hold detailed financial / commercial / technical discussions &
finalize the agreement with most suitable one.
• Correspondence with power purchaser (Water & Power Development Authority) for
technical issues related to power purchase agreement.
• Support the budget department in preparation of overall annual budget for company.
• Correspondence with different companies regarding all technical issues of power plant
project.

• Correspondence with different government agencies for different agreements etc.
• Assist the Chief Technical and Commercial Officer on different technical & commercial
issues.
• Making proposed cash flows for contractors.
Rupali polyester Ltd own and operates composite facilities to manufacture Polyester Fiber
and Filament Yarn. The Company has the privilege of being one of the pioneers in Pakistan
for manufacture of Staple Fiber of highest quality. Since its inception, the Company has
been growing steadily through expansion and diversified operations and hence the assets of
the Company have been increased to over Rs. 2, 931 million from the initial capital outlay of
Rs. 150 million. Understanding the future economic situations, the group planned in year
2004 to install 2 No. Gas fired power houses for self-consumption at their two production
plants.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities included but were not limited to:
• Lead & manage the construction of 2 No. gas fired power houses constituting 2 x 3.0 MW
Jenbacher (JGS 620 GS) engines & waste heat recovery boiler of capacity 3.8 TPH @ 10
bars at each production plant.
• Lead & manage the installation of chiller unit in production facility.
• Prepare detailed project schedule using Primavera (P3) and assign resources and
expenses.
• Update overall progress, preparing daily, weekly and monthly reports for higher
management.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules, analyzing the delays & suggesting corrective actions to
higher management.
• Prepare project operating budget and review it every two months so that slippage
remains minimum.
• Prepare reports separately for manpower & equipment. Also prepare manpower
histogram.
• Coordination/dealing with all contractors and to make sure that milestones are achieved
as per planned schedule.
• Co-ordination with SNGPL (Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd) for erection/installation of
main gas supply station.
• Co-ordination with concerned roads/transportation departments for cross road
installation of plant main gas pipe line.
• Ensure the execution of jobs exactly according to the manufacturer/designer
recommendations.
• Ensure quality of workmanship & maintain good quality of work at site.
• Calculating the estimated quantity & costs for Mechanical/civil erection equipment in
Power House.
• Performing miscellaneous technical works like pipe material/dia selection, selection of
utilities pumps, selection of angle iron for overhead trusses etc.
• Ensure the availability of all necessary and proper material required for various erection
activities and to assist Purchase/Procurement department for purchasing parts from local
as well as from off shore sources.

While working at KEL, I had on hand experience working in very critical situations like:
• Restarting of Power Plant after the blackout due to major Break down in 500 KV
transmission line in year 2006.
• Restarting of Engine (Unit # 1) in record timing after the major Turbocharger accident
completely destroying the casing and Rotor.
