Key Responsibilities:
Originate PE and VC deals through liaison with Big4, investment banks and brokerage houses
Run financial modelling of structures & returns for investment opportunities
Perform valuation of potential investments using DCF, Comps, Multiples and other valuation techniques
Monitor third-party consultants for commercial, legal, financial and taxation due diligence
Prepare Investment Memorandum for review by the CIO, Investment Committee and the Board
Analysis of impact of the equity funding i.e. jobs creation, incremental revenue and contribution to GDP
Lead in negotiation of term sheet and structuring of complex transactions
Finalize term sheet, share subscription, shareholders’ agreement and non-compete agreement
Provide support and consultancy to portfolio companies in formulating business strategy, business development, partnership, value-enhancing initiatives, debt raising etc.
Monitor monthly updates of portfolio companies and industry dynamics to make sure portfolio companies going on the right track and follow up on possible additional investments
Implementation of MIS and Corporate Governance prior to taking the investee Public
Develop exit plans and actively take actions to realize originally agreed business plan
Key Transactions:
Led acquisition of significant minority stake in an FMCG company based out of Punjab
Led formation of JV with a leading financial institution for warehouse receipt financing and rice processing project in Punjab
Co-leading minority stake acquisition in a pharmaceutical manufacturing business with significant local market share
Post-execution monitoring and value enhancement of a food processing unit in Punjab
Origination of over 30 PE and VC deals over two years
Founded in 2008 by Sheikh Suhaim Bin Abdul Aziz Al Thani, Al Bidda Group is a conglomerate having strong presence in manufacturing, real estate, retail, hospitality and health care industry across Qatar, UAE, Spain and UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Play an aggressive role in formulating the investment strategy of the group and support senior management in understanding/planning the present and future investments
Source deals, performing financial and legal due diligence, structure and execute deals
Lead on preparation of complex financial models and investment marketing documents (investment teasers, investment memos, investor presentations, pitch books and others)
Support the Senior Management of Al Bidda in reviewing LOIs, term sheets, SPAs, MOUs, MOAs, SHAs and other transaction execution documents for various investments
Set annual budgets for newly established SBUs and support CEO in growth strategy formulation (establishing JVs with strategic business partners)
Participate in due diligence calls and liaise with 3rd party consultants (including Big 4) to conduct market studies for potential investment opportunities
Manage a team of two finance executives and report directly to the CEO/CFO
Key Transactions:
Development of a 5-star hotel in Malaga, Spain - concession agreement of 50 years with local municipality
Formation of JV with a leading switchgear manufacturer in Qatar
Post-deal monitoring of a nursing home in Central London
Acquisition of a residential real estate project in downtown Doha, Qatar
Acquisition of minority equity stake in a leisure business registered in US and operational in Barcelona, Spain
Feasibility study of a water-front marina project in Spain
Capventures is a principal investment, new venture development and strategic financial advisory platform with a focus on South Asia (predominantly Pakistan) and the Middle East. Capventures has a presence in Lahore and Dubai. My time at Capventures was equally divided into its Dubai and Lahore Office.
As Associate at Capventures, I was involved in:
Project development (development of new ventures from scratch)

Corporate finance advisory to large private equities throughout the Gulf region
Sectors of expertize include, but are not limited to transport & logistics, food & beverages, designer apparel (retail sector), income oriented real estate, MEP, waste management & environmental infrastructure and agriculture & food processing.
Key milestones achieved:
Led the financial and accounting aspects of a 10-year water treatment and environment infrastructure project (concession agreement) based in UAE. I added value by developing a base business plan, converting that into short/medium term budgets, producing monthly management reports, communicating and responding to shareholders’ queries and representing Capventures in the monthly steering committee meetings.
Provided corporate finance & transaction advisory (investment banking) services to large private equities throughout the Gulf Region. I was involved in creating advisory proposals, detailed financial models/business plans followed by investor presentations and private placement memos.
Acted in the capacity of a Financial Controller for an associate investment (retail sector) where I successfully handled the challenge to put an accounting/finance system in place and to ensure timely management and financial reporting, budgets formulation, variance analysis and corrective action plan.
Successfully managed financial aspects of a chain of coffee shops by leading a team of 5 finance personnel. I was adding value by taking care of the MIS, long term development plans formulation, investor presentations to raise finance for new outlets, working capital management and liaison with banks and third parties.
Performed financial due diligence of a pipeline transport & logistics project by developing comprehensive financial models, investment teasers and bank funding memos.
