Technical Lead to a 2nd Line Operation Team, responsible for Maintenance, Troubleshoot and Support for Mobile Packet Core Domain within Warid Telecom Pvt Ltd. I work closely with the teams across Back Office, Front Office, Design and Project Management. I’ve ability to understand and interpret performance KPIs relating to Network Elements and services. I’m having understanding of relevant domain area components and their functions, ability to manage change effectively, to ensure services are introduced in a controlled manner, reducing the risk of impact to customers
• Hands on experience for Ericsson EPC Platforms i.e. SGSN-MME, EPG-M320, EPG-SSR 8020, SAPCs, IPWorks (DNS & AAA) worked at Binds platform as well.
• Deployment of SACC (Service Aware Charging & Control) and it’s cutover from SASN to EPG-SSR 2013A
• Expertise to install Correction & Emergency Packages at SGSN, EPG and Juniper platform M120 & M320s.
• SGSN-MME, EPG-SSR KPIs failure troubleshoot; Integrated Traffic Capture, Gy tcpdumps, analysis of EBM logs, session, mobility and ISP logs.
• Cisco ASR5K hands-on experience, configuration, maintenance of ASR5000 box (SGSN-MME, PGW/SGW), daily routine tasks, troubleshoot etc
• Deployment and routine maintenance of Network Monitoring Tools, like Cacti, SmokePing and MTR
Leading Back Office Packet Core Team; responsible for O&M and troubleshoot of EPC/PS Core Network Elements i.e. SGSN-MME, EPG-M / EPG-S, DNS and Radius Servers. Carry out planned activities, network changes. Integration, migration & expansion of RNCs; BSCs GbIP / GbFR rehoming. I’m responsible to retain the KPIs of PS Core Network Elements as per agreed SLA with customer. Formulation of MOPs; presentations covering all about network matters, weekly and monthly activities, objectives and discussion about upcoming plans.
• Lead project for deployment of SSR (Ericsson EPG), cutover of live traffic from M120 to SSR-8020, along with Ericsson Projects.
• Develop a complete setup using Cacti, for real-time performance monitoring of SGSN-MMEs, EPGs and UNIX / Linux enabled nodes. It was all about the KPIs of SGSN-MMEs Attach, PDP Activation, SAU, ISRAU, RAU, Paging etc.) & GGSN-EPGs (Payload, Interface Traffic, PDP Activation FR per APN, total Active PDPs, Gy / Gx failures, rating groups, CPU and memory utilization.
• Installation of EP / CP Packages at GGSN 2011A & 2013A; M120 & M320.
• GGSN (M320, M120) FPC / RE replacement; PIC re-allocations; GGSN restoration from backup.
• GGSN SACC, rules spaces / header rules, rule sets / Rating groups, allowing rule spaces for real-time charging towards OLM (IMSI & default charging characteristics).
• Troubleshoot with Online Mediation (OLM) (Gy-Interface) for real time charging;
• SGSN backups / GSS server troubleshoots; faulty boards replacements.
• SGSN traffic routing, Mobility / Session logs / ITC traces / EBM / PDC etc.
• Definition of GTs Rules and opening IMSI ranges for roaming partners.
• iDNS zone creation for NAPTR queries; definition of ARecord and NAPTR records at IPWorks 6.
• Along with Ericsson Project teams, implemented SGSN in Pool, 3GDT, VoIP client blocking; limiting bandwidth; SGSN feature implementation as per customer requirements.
• Worked on EPC phase-I-II, for preparation of nodes to handle the LTE traffic.
Lead VAS-GPRS Back Office team for O&M and technical support to AirTel Ghana. I went along with Ericsson Project & Integration teams for the upgrade of Packet Core & VAS nodes. I used to carry out planned activities/cutovers, traffic routings, handling outages for SGSN, GGSN, Radius, iDNS, EMM (File & Event and Online Mediation), and MSDP.
• SGSN Implementation, participated in SGSN-GGSN upgrade (SGSN, R8 to 2010A & GGSN R4 to 2010-A); daily O&M and troubleshooting.
• Gb Integration, migration and expansion over Frame Relay and IP (BSC) and RNC integration / rehoming & swap. (Multi-vendor, E///, Huawei & ALU). Multi-homing & single mode SCTP profile creation.
• Analysis of Statistics (mobility / session event logs) its measurement, maintaining KPIs (Attach, PDP, Inter/Intra RAU success etc) as per agreed SLAs. Troubleshoot of cooperating LACs.
• Open IMSI ranges, testing and troubleshooting for Roaming Partners (IR21).
• GGSN / DNS APN definition and changes, SGSN/GGSN License Management and features activations.
• Creation of new test PEERs with OLM.
• EMA Administration, Batch Handler, scripting/automating Batch Jobs, fetching data from EMA database, CAI Admin & Consistency Tool.
• EMA Integration with other Network Elements (HLR/MINSAT/MMC/ADC);
• Ericsson Multi Mediation; Handling day to day new requirement of changing business rules in mediation BIN to ASCII CDRs for MSC, SMSC, SDP, AIR, SGSN, GGSN & WAPGW.
• EMM (File & Event) cutover EMM 5.0 to EMM 7.2; migrated complete configurations and business rules.
• EMA-EMM License management.
• EMM (Online Mediation) business rules modifications, change in Quota, definition of new pre-pay IMSI ranges etc.
ngHLR Operations | Telenor Managed Services
I’d been part of ngHLR (Huawei) O&M team, HLR services activations & handling activities for IN-HLR subscriber migrations, STP/HLR cutovers & GT/Number Plans definitions. Analysis of system performance e.g. signaling load, CPU occupancy, disk space restoration, SQL /db queries, logs extraction and HLR subscriber dumps.
Service Engineer VAS-GPRS | Warid Managed Services
I’d been part of ERICSSON BO-VAS team, carrying out O&M tasks and technical support to Warid Telecom Pakistan. I’d been responsible for maintenance and trouble shoot of Network Elements (SMSC, MMSC, EMA, EMM and GPRS), did network upgrades, deployment of software patches and planned activities; deal with traffic congestion / handling outages, performance statistics and managing Warid Complaints & Operations team queries. I’ve worked on SLAs of SMSC / MMSC & GPRS; I’ve conducted ATPs and other service level agreements.
TeleCard | CMPak Technical Support Group
I’d been part of ZTE-NSS equipment integration & configuration team. I did live traffic cut over, defined system pattern and modifications, carried out network capacity expansion. Configuration of adjacent offices, SS7 & M3UA links management, Trunks management and Digit Analysis System. Network upgrades, software patches and configuration of various modules of MSC and HLR.
It was four years B.Sc Electrical Engineering Degree; with majors in Telecommunications & Electronics.
