Roles & Responsibility
•Ensure certification of OHSMS in accordance to OHSAS 18001:2007 & ISO-14001:2004 through external consultant and internal core team members to achieve effective occupational health & safety management system in the organization and an injury free environment.
•To enforce various Management Systems (QMS, EMS, OHSAS) & Project Safety Management System.
•Handle External / Internal audit at site by Client & Consultant as per according ISO-9001-2000, ISO-14001-2004 and OHSAH-18001-2007.
•Any incident happened in project site lesson learned cascade to bottom line through mass tool box meeting .Awareness training to avoid similar types of incident at site.
•Investigates all accidents /incident and advises preventive measures. Studies imminent threats within the work facility.
•Developing, implementing and monitoring Occupational Health and Safety Policy, Programs, and Procedures.
•Liaison with government and other agencies for obtaining statutory approvals required & client & consultant.
•Legal compliances in above matters and avoid litigation with government or any other agencies in line with Organization integrated policy.
•Conducting and ensuring training in areas such as Safety Laws and Regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
• Identifying and eliminating unsafe practices and unsafe conditions through regular inspections and audits.
•Developing method statements and review documentation to ensure construction methodologies are safe, adopting best practices and capturing all risk management and necessary control and mitigation measures.
•Take initiatives for better OSH condition in the entire Organization
• Setting processes & procedures to ensure regular maintenance of all firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment and all other safety and security gadgets.
• Setting processes & procedures for inspection and Testing of Fire Protection and Fighting Systems, Mock Fire Drills, Disaster Management Plans (DMP) and Fire Combat teams etc.
•Coordinating and conducting safety committee meeting with equal participation from management staff and Non-Management staff, for involving the workers in the safety management system.
• Investigating accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
•Investigating and reporting on all serious/critical personal injury accidents occurring to students, staff and/or visitors to the appropriate senior official, and assisting in the investigation of all accidents/incidents that result in substantial damage to any vehicles and/or property within the purview of the company/project.
•Increasing health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization.
•Investigating and reporting on complaints of hazardous working conditions to the Associate Director and/or other appropriate senior staff. Responding to employees’ safety concerns.
•Setting processes & procedures for coordinating registration and removal of hazardous waste.
•Conducting testing of noise, temperature, or radiation levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.
•Participating in all safety and health committee meetings and making recommendations to improve safety performance and health habits in work place.
•Establishing budget proposals for the operation of the Occupational Health and Safety office and specific training programs.
•Developing, reviewing, and updating appropriate sections of the Emergency Procedures Manual.
•Providing reports and analysis to internal and external customers on an as needed basis.
•Establishing risk management protocols and procedures, preparing reports required for risk assessment w.r.t the safety norms established to ensure high level of safety at site.
•Establishing reporting criteria, content and format for monthly project status reports and quarterly presentations ensuring the safety norms of the site with proper standards.
• Liaising with Municipal and State Emergency planners, update plans, organize exercises and evaluate procedures.
• Liaising with the fire department regarding emergency procedures, communications and fire safety education programs.
• Preparing annual maintenance schedule, carrying out preventive maintenance, keeping the history cards of all equipment’s, maintaining the annual maintenance contract with the suppliers etc.
• Coordinating the training of personnel in areas of safety, including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation, work place inspections and other matters related to implementing safety procedures in Board facilities
• Arranging for Occupational Health and Safety testing and/or evaluations of the workplace by external agencies/consultants as may be necessary.
•Coordinating the selection and distribution of emergency communications equipment to schools and administrative/support departments.
• Ensuring compliance to all applicable statutes/laws pertaining to Health, Safety, environment and well-being of staff/workers and/or local community.
•Total and effective implementation of work permits system based on JSA (Job safety analysis).
•Safety induction training program to all staff & workmen before deployed at site.
•Daily inspection of work sites for locating hazards and issuing reports following up implementation. (i.e. conducting daily micro safety audit).
•To ensure various Works Permit Systems (WPS) at site .
•Prepare weekly & monthly HSE statistics report submit to management.
•Implement electrical system Log Out & Tag Out (LOTO) to ensure electrical safety.
•Conduct Mock drills with the help of task force team of Emergency Plan and take corrective remedial measures to prepare employees for facing the emergencies both of onsite and offsite.
