- Designed and developed while seeing through to implementation a new oil products supply chain business process model (complete business remodelling of at least two Operating Unit business processes) enabled by digital tools (together with consultants) to contribute projected cost savings of US$50 million annually.
- Drive initiatives to deliver the sales growth, inventory optimisation and shipping costs reduction across several companies in Petronas including a public listed company which requires independent board approval.
- Designed principles and construct for intercompany sales. Basis for sales purchase agreement and storage handling agreement to ensure clear demarcation while creating collaborative drive for improvement for the enterprise
- Proposed the downstream’s oil optimisation business unit to create a new section to manage sustained cross business process innovation and development enabled by digitalisation.
- Expand optimisation beyond downstream fuels but to include chemicals, gas and to interface with upstream (especially related to own equity crude).
- Evaluated current business processes which identified efficiency improvement (i.e. manhour savings) through digitisation opportunities and developed new process improvement.

- Developed terms of reference to ensure techno-commercial feasibility of GTL diesel product commercialisation in a specific country.

Chemical Notification Scheme (OCNS). Augmenting GTL drilling fluids

* Explored the use of SMDS wax products in sulphur-concrete with P&T where
an opportunity was found for hardwax as a suitable medium to encapsulate
a modifier (liquid phase sulphur-aggregate coupling agent) and pelletised to
be mixed with sulphur pellets used in sulphur-concrete
* Initiated and conclusively agreed R&D support for non-commercialised non-
fuel research and product development work(Phase Change Material) via
Shell P&T with GTL Marketing funding and support
* Managed and supported the Product Supply Specification development,
being the key advisor for marketing working together with manufacturing.
- Coordinate technical related issues on intellectual property (IP) of products
marketed and in development. For example, coordinate IP search with IP
services, on products/molecules into existing application.
* Highlights
* Resolved issue of royalty payment on GTL drilling fluids (as raised by mud
companies) through engagement of legal and IP services.
* Supported IP Services in technically reviewing IPs that may impact Pearl GTL
drilling fluids.
- Product stewardship focal point. Amongst others ensuring SMDS marketing
business continuous license to operate in various countries complying to their
chemical inventory requirements with support from Shell central GTL product
stewards. For example, coordinate and monitor effort to ensure registration of
globally marketed product like waxes and drilling fluids in the countries of
export.
* Highlights
* Initiated (and monitored) effort to include drilling fluids application as part
of existing GTL gasoil global product registration, specifically in China,
Australia and Europe.
* Coordinated effort and mitigated compliance risk of Shell GTL Saraline 185V
entering New Zealand.

Supported the design and implementation of Product Quality Margin
Management for East refineries (5 refineries) and Europe (11 refineries) via
providing monthly monitoring of product quality giveaways benchmarking.
* Evaluated the jetty occupancy and determine sufficient availability for future
business needs. Possible net saving on new berth requirement of US$20mln.
* Contributed to the development of the Oil Movements Masterplan for a refinery
in Malaysia (tankage and jetty basis of design) and supported Shell
downstream’s East Logistics Masterplan.
* Completed an emissions review/masterplan for a refinery in Australia. For
example, evaluating best methods for emissions reduction of hydrocarbon tanks
to ensure continued license to operate.
* East crude oil and product quality technical focal point. Providing technical
support, training and technical advice on crude oil and products (covering SMDS,
Melaka Refinery and Thai refineries).
* Completed carbon dioxide assessment of the manufacturing process (part of life
cycle assessment) of Gasoline and Diesel for Malaysia.
* Compiled historical data (stories) for fit for purpose study (East) for Fuels Product
Management. This was then used as knowledge base(and learnings) for the
current development in the downstream supply chain review including
manufacturing, on fuels product management
* Support the business in monitoring the quality changes of crudes processed,
improving crude assay quality and hence selection of crudes as well as refinery
margins

Achievement: Member of team issuing patent on fuel formulation for increased

* Provided process input (process conditions of corrosion loops) for Shell

in Complex 1 & 2 and shell reliability centred maintenance (RCM) for
Complex1.
* General troubleshooting of all the process units. Coordinated technical
evaluation and recommendation of reformer catalysts (6$mln) replacement
(evaluation with Shell Research Centre on CRI and UOP catalysts) and chloride
adsorber catalysts
* Completed factory acceptance test(FAT) of the Optimiser (advanced plant
process control) for the distillation section of the cat cracker. Ensuring
operations of the cat cracker are automatically driven by current economic
drivers.
