Deliver technical solutions on time to upstream, downstream capital projects as well as operating plants on materials, welding and corrosion issues, Review/approve welding procedures of vendors and field construction contractors, Review operating conditions of plant equipments to assess and monitor their damage mechanism and accordingly evaluate the material performance and recommend modifications, Advise corrective actions(during T&I shutdown) for operation equipments (GOSPs, Gas plants, refinery units) based on the onstream inspection data and the damage mechanism to extend the life of the equipment and to ensure the integrity and reliability of the equipments, Prepare suitable repair procedure and attend/fix critical repairs of plant/operation team’s urgent requirements. Perform worldwide supplier’s technical capability assessment audits, Provide key inputs for Design Basis Scope(DBSP) kickoff meeting and highlight the potential risks involved, Carry out design review on materials selection in various phases to support capital projects (project proposal as 30%, 60%, 90% detailed design review), Provide support on Material selections for upstream (including subsurface, i.e. downhole tubing, liners, packers, casing etc.) and downstream facilities, which includes sour as well as sweet applications, Established downhole equipments material selection for most severe (28%H2S, 8%CO2) Abqaiq Khuff Gas reservoir conditions and recommended/evaluated need of Stress Corrosion Cracking tests (slow strain rate, c ring tests) for CRA materials as per NACE ISO 15156, Review/Approve technical clarifications, Queries and deviations/concession requests from vendors and EPC contractors.
Deliver presentations to management on critical materials & corrosion damage issues and deliver lectures on fabrication, welding, and material selection, failure investigations/analysis to Saudi engineers, Carryout failure investigation for field/operation plant items, identify damage mechanism and root causes and capture lessons for improvement in company standards. Provide recommendations to enhance safety and integrity of the plant, identity and introduce new technology items to company through international seminars/conferences, bring new technologies for enhancing assets performance optimization for continuous availability of assets, Perform engineering studies and initiatives, Review and approve engineering criticality assessment (ECA) acceptance criteria for CS/Cladded pipelines, Perform plant Integrity assessment reviews, develop inspection procedures for critical cases, develop scopes for special inspection services, KPIs, advanced NDT application, shut down/ turn around inspection coordination, review/ approve materials procurement etc. to support operation requirements, conduct value engineering on standards prior to global official release and develop new engineering standards & best engineering practices for materials & welding.
Early Identification of key technical inputs (i.e. on materials, type/extent of forming, type of heat treatment, scope/selection of welding processes, type /extent of NDE, extent of hardness, ferrite and PMI checks, level of inspections based on criticality rating, type of corrosion tests, acceptance for corrosion rate etc.) and preparing technical checklists for suppliers/subcontractors prior to award of contract, Prepare technical queries on materials/welding/quality related issues and review technical offers and technical bid evaluations for various procurement items, conduct pre-award and post award discussions with global suppliers on technical issues, conduct kick off meeting/ pre-inspection meetings with various vendors to ensure the welding quality requirements in the early stage of manufacture of PO items; identify and resolve contradictions in contract document/client specifications and raise technical query/concession request/deviation request to resolve with Company. Approve supplier/subcontractor quality documents such as WPS/PQRs, ITP, NDE, Hydro and other manufacturing procedures, test procedures etc. Perform inspections worldwide at vendor shops for various items like steel plates, pipes, fittings, forgings, heavy thick cladded pressure vessels, air cooled heat exchangers, shell/tube heat exchangers, tanks, pumps, compressors, valves-gate, globe, check, butterfly, ball valves, package items etc. Technical support to site team in welding quality issues, witness mechanical testing, corrosion tests etc. for the PQR samples, perform failure analysis to determine the cause of failures and recommend preventive measures, participate in tender evaluations to review tender’s submittals on materials, welding quality requirements and participate in detailed engineering reviews, act on weekly/monthly weld repair rates and analyses root cause.
