Qatar Electricity and Water Company is Qatar’s largest modern power generation and water production Company in GCC, established in 1990 with power generation capacity of 8500 MW and water production capacity of 350 MIGD. I have join QEWC in April 2007 as an Instrument Supervisor and promoted to Instrument Engineer in June 2017.
I was responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting activities of GE MS-9001FA (220 MW/hr x 3) Gas turbines controlled with MARK VI Control System and Nooter Eriksen (500 T/hr x 2) Waste Heat Recovery Boilers and entire utility plant instrumentation communication with Ovation DCS system.
Carry out investigation of defects issued by operation and take necessary action to rectify the defects.
Assign work to technicians and monitor progress of all types of routine breakdown and planned maintenance activities.
Carry out hot gas path inspection works and coordination with Section Head and GE engineer to prepare the list of instruments need to replace during major overhaul.
Order spares and set a track for stock level to avoid shortage of spares during major overhaul and regular maintenance of the plant.
During major overhaul involved in removal and restoration of instruments from bearings, combustion chamber, compressor bleed valve valves to facilitate the works for mechanical maintenance as per schedule.
Involved in calibration of IGV, GCV, SRV, VPR’s, VTR’s, flow meters, Bentely Nevada 3300 XL Series probes and proximity transducers, Rosemount d/p, pressure and temperature transmitters, United Electric, Neo-Dyn pressure switches and d/p switches, Magnetrol level transmitters and level switches, Weksler, Ashcroft temperature gauges, Ametek, Ashcroft, Reotem, Wika, Norgen pressure gauges, Fisher, Masoneilan, Valtek control valves. Testing of Asco solenoid valves, Moog Electrohydraulic servo valves, Top Worx proximity switches, Welstock position transmitters and loop checking of all instruments.
Involved in calibration of TECO 42i HL NOx Analyzer, Teledyne API 300 CO & O2 Analyzer, Ametek 933 H2S Analyzer and Rosemount 700 Fuel Gas Chromatograph.
Carry out cold commissioning activities by simulating turbine protection trips and turbine protection load shedding trips (PLST).
Carry out hot commissioning activities like flame off test, minimum flow protection test, acceleration test, over speed protection test, mass flow adjustment of gas control valve, PLS test and Hot start test.
I have join Qatar Technical Services as an Instrument Engineer in August 2002. I was assigned to work with General Electric Company in Ras Laffan Power Plant during erection, commissioning and Operation & Maintenance contract.
