STAFF NURSE -
• Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.
• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Prepares and administers (oral, injection, topical, and IV) and records prescribed medications.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures
• Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.
• Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury.
• Changes dressings, inserts catheters, starts IVs.
• Perform EKG and blood glucose test.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays.
• Performs CPR and assists in intubation.
• Participates in discharge planning.
INFECTION CONTROL NURSE -
• Carry out a number of tasks related to the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections.
• Conducts on-going surveillance of hospital acquired infections.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the hospital’s infection control plan, policies and procedures and modifying it as necessary.
• Collects, analyzes, and interprets infection control data to include risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies to determine problem source and make appropriate recommendations.
• Participates in quality improvement activities, by assessing, monitoring, and measuring healthcare associated infection rates and evaluating outcomes on a continuous basis.
• Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates educational programs for all the hospital’s employees, including administrative and ancillary staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and awareness of healthcare associated infections and prevention measures.
• Develops infection control educational materials and conducts regular training sessions to ensure consistent implementation of IC practices.
• Maintains compliance with HAAD standards and the JCI and promotes best practices
• Prepare and administers medications and injections as prescribed by the doctor.
• Administer intravenous fluids and oxygen, if required.
• Provide frequent patient evaluations including monitoring vital signs and perform essential procedures.
• Refer any changes in patient's status or untoward reaction to the doctor.
• Performs CPR and assists in intubation.
• Monitor, analyze and record urine and stool output.
• Collect specimens including sputum, stool, and urine and send it for medical analysis to laboratory.
• Analyze test results from various departments and record it properly.
• Assist doctors during treatment.
• Prepare the patient for various investigations like Ultra Sound, Echo, CT scan, MRI, Endoscopy, etc.
• Provide general nursing care to all patients.
• Give psychological support to the patient and family members.
• Educate patient and family about the disease and prognosis of the patient.
• Participate in in-service nurse education programmes conducted by the hospital.
