Responsibilities : Responsible for all engineering activities of the 9 design and 6 support departments, averaging 280k man-hours per annum in the design and engineering of commercial and residential buildings, infrastructure and utilities,
oil, gas and petrochemical projects throughout Saudi Arabia for which certain projects executed for Saudi Aramco were done in JV with Parsons E&C. Activities include the contractual review, estimation, resourcing and execution of all engineering projects, interviewing and appraisal of all senior staf, also budget preparation and control. Assigned the specific task to improve the productivity, eficiency and quality of all engineering services, for which the following were established and implemented:
• Change to a matrix management engineering structure.
• Project, engineering and overhead measurement, control and reporting procedures.
• Long and short term resource co-ordination, assignment and forecasting procedures.
• Standard company contract and sub-contract agreements.
• Structured staf job specifications, grade codes, performance ranking and cost analysis.
• Benchmark productivity and eficiency data for each design department, by project type.
• Employee's administrative procedures manual.
• Technical publicity brochures for all activities, by department.
• 3D CADD design section. During this term, overhead charges were reduced by 42% and non-productive time by 40%, whilst increasing direct engineering activities by 30%, project utilization eficiency by 26%, productive eficiency by 29% and productivity by 15%. In addition, personally managed several problematic projects through to successful completion, where the existing Project Managers were having dificulties.
Responsibilities : Appointed sole company representative, based in Baghdad, following in-house training in the installation and commissioning of equipment, also switchgear and engine governing systems operations and maintenance training at the manufacturers' factory. Responsible for organisation of the local trading ofice, local technical support and contractual negotiations with government ministries, contractors, consulting ofices and private sector industries, classroom and site training of client's staf in operations, maintenance and fault-finding, organisation and supervision of installations, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover of all major equipment and site repairs, to include fault-finding on solid state control systems down to component level. All in the supply of turnkey medium and low voltage power generation systems and associated controls and switchgear throughout Iraq.
