Staff Nurse (General Ward)

Nature of work:
*Under the direction of the Chief Nurse, performs overall qualitative nursing care.
*Maintains optimum standard of nursing practice through assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of care rendered to the assigned patient.
*Collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to render holistic care toward health promotion, disease prevention, restoration of health, alleviation of suffering and rehabilitation.
Specific Duties
o Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients.
o Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
o Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards. o Maintains accurate and detailed records and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
o Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
o Engages in research activities related to nursing.
General Wards
Medical Ward, Pediatric Ward
o Closely monitors all aspects of patient care and reports changes in condition.
o Checks and appropriately administers intravenous fluids, medications, parenteral injections, oxygen inhalation, and nebulization as prescribed by the physician.
o Collects specimen as ordered and secures corresponding results of laboratory and diagnostic tests.
o Responds quickly to emergency situations.
Surgical Ward
o Provides general pre-operative care which includes psychological support for the patient and significant others, gives holistic care and administration of pre-operative medications as prescribed by the physician. Renders general post-operative care and closely monitors the patient for complications thereafter.
o Assists patient in convalescence and rehabilitation.
OB-Gyne Ward
o Records prenatal history, vital signs, fetal heart rate and progress of labor.
o Assists gynecologists and obstetricians in treating mothers and newborns.
o Manages mothers and newborns through clinical and nursing care services.
o Provides individual counseling, referrals and education for women.
