Manager for KEO Qatar legal and contracts department services, I successfully formed proposals, concluded agreements and contract amendments; carried out claims’ assessments and other dispute resolution services. I was a member of the Senior Management Team of this specialist, multi-disciplinary, international fabrication and installation contractor engaged in heavy/industrial mechanical and civil engineering tunneling, construction of oil/gas pipelines and aluminum smelters pot rooms, mining and other industrial projects in the UAE, Qatar and KSA. He prepared risk and contract review, tender commentaries for senior corporate executive, negotiated tenders, the conclusions of contracts and sub-contract and procurement terms. He was responsible for the management of procurement and commercial staff, dealing with the non-contentious and contentious legal issues, drafting and negotiating contracts, joint ventures, MoUs and insurance programs. He was also responsible for litigation matters and the briefing of legal advisors for two successful court cases.
I was the Project Commercial Director for a US$1.4 billion mixed use development. Responsible for the contractual, commercial, budgetary and legal issues in the Client Representative’s team for the multi-party project partnering agreement, from concept through schematic design and the pre-construction stages and also managed the team during several periods. He was personally involved in the tendering, appraisal, selection and concluding of contracts with the project partnering team under the ‘PPC International’ contract. This required close liaison with the client, core management and design and construction teams as well as with cost consultants. Mr. Brimacombe developed strategies for team building and established collaborative working methods to underpin the project partnering team for this five hundred thousand square meter premium business park consisting of multi-storey hotels, offices and retail developments.
This post involved specialist adjudication, contracts and commercial services consultancy for UK and international projects, provision of solutions to the project teams and senior management of major building and civil engineering companies, engineering consultancies, offshore and sub-sea projects. It also required assisting an adjudicator, producing quantum reports for expert witness work and successfully acting as Party Representative in adjudications.
