Involved in the regulation of the possession and application of radioactive sources and devices emitting
ionizing radiation. Ensuring the protection of health, life and property from the harmful effects of ionizing
radiation.
Involved in the safety assessment for the authorizations of the different Licensing Stages for the Research Reactor and Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF) with the eventual issuance of the Provisional Licence to Operate the Nuclear Research Reactor and the Operator Licenses
Investigative Inspections of Industrial radiography facilities, Well Logging, and other facilities using
radioactive sources and devices emitting ionizing radiation, like Radiotherapy & Diagnostic Radiology.
Review of authorization applications and inspection reports.
I participate in the implementation of the NNRA Regulatory Control Programme to ensure the safe use of ionizing radiation sources in Nigeria through the following:
i. review of application for authorization
ii. conduct of preauthorization, compliance and enforcement inspections
iii. organization and implementation of training programmes on safety & security of radioactive sources
iv. technical paper presentations at workshops and seminars organized by the NNRA
v. training of frontline officers and regulators
vi. implementation of the NNRA oversight functions on the Nuclear Research Reactor in Zaria
I serve on the NNRA Inspection Team that provides support for the annual IAEA Safeguards Inspectors of the Nuclear Research Reactor, NIRR-1, CERT Zaria
I also served as consultant to the IAEA as Lecturer for the National Training Course on Combating Illicit Trafficking of Nuclear and Radioactive Materials, held in Accra, Ghana, January 2007
I served on the licensing team for the Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF), which included the IAEA sponsored Technical Experts from Germany and Canada respectively
I have also carried out other ad-hoc functions which included serving on Technical Committees responsible for the development and review of practice specific regulations and guidance such as:
National Nuclear & Radiological Emergency Plan
 Nigeria Research Reactor Safety Regulations
 Nigerian System of Accounting and/for Control of Nuclear Material Regulations
 Nigerian Nuclear & Radiological Emergency Preparedness and Response Regulations
 Nigerian Regulations for Commissioning of NPP
 Nigerian Regulations for Decommissioning of NPP
 Guidance for Licensing Process for Research Reactors in Nigeria
 Guidance for Licensing Process for NPP in Nigeria
 Procedures for emergency response to category iv threat facilities (EPC IV) in Nigeria
Also participated in the EPREV Mission in June 2015 and implementation of the action from the findings.
