ATKINS is going through a phase of digital transformation where technology and innovation is at the forefront of the organization’s strategy. I joined Atkins in 2016 and transformed the database domain by implementing ‘DBaaS’ model with a global team in (UK, US and India) to provide 24x7 business coverage.

The current project I am leading is a global Oracle & SQL Server platform modernization by eliminating the legacy infrastructure and database technologies. This is to enable the business to take advantage of the new features of the database technologies and a first step towards private/public cloud DBaaS models.

I was hands-on Database Technical Manager, responsible for a team of three DBAs responsible for the development, maintenance and support of all the Oracle Database Environments on Windows and Linux Environments running on EXADATA platforms.

I was also responsible for working closely with project teams on the design, building of new Production, Staging, Test and Development databases, using some of the latest Oracle products including Oracle EXADATA, 11g Data Guard and Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g (RAC).

As the manager of the team, I have full responsibility for the personnel development, discipline and resourcing including carrying our staff appraisals, objective setting along with strategic direction of the team, leading the team for championing new technology for the business.

Along with all the Management aspects of this role, I am very much hands-on technical database manager, this is to help my team whenever the resource and timelines are limited, to be honest I personally enjoy to be closer to the technical side of this job.


•Database Migration from multiple Microsoft platforms to EXADATA Linux environment.
•Database Character Set conversion to Unicode.
•Capacity Management of EXADATA Servers.
•Restructuring and Implementation of the Sales System to Salesforce.com
•Automation of staging refresh from the Production Databases.
•Database Service Recovery for DR and Non-DR Failure.
•Pre and Post migration database performance and tuning.
•Implementing Oracle 12c Cloud Control.
•Building Service Level Agreements after Migration to EXADATA.
•Working Closely with Incident, Problem and Change Managers to improve the ITIL framework.
•Implementation of Third Party Database support model using CINTRA(offshore teams)
•Exploring and Implementing new oracle and EXADATA technologies
