The Inspection Department is responsible for carrying out comprehensive on-site inspections of Authorised Persons by implementing a combination of compliance-based and risk-based inspection programs and methodologies to ensure compliance with the Capital Market Law and its Implementing Regulations.
The on-site inspections programs used in preliminary, routine, cause, follow-up and commencement of business inspections have been designed to, among others, achieve the following:-
1-Foster sound business practices by way of having and adopting effective internal controls and risk management policies & procedures at the Authorized Persons;
2-Assess the level of compliance of Authorized Persons with the Capital Market Law and its Implementing Regulations;
3-Evaluate the soundness of the design and operation of Authorized Persons’ existing internal controls and identify areas deemed to be vulnerable to potential fraud and abuse so they can be addressed proactively;
4-Promote self-regulation in Authorized Persons and cultivate a culture of compliance and risk management.
