Reporting to GM, Technology Services recruited to establish the COE for database technology and further added responsibility to set up Product Architecture Group to govern technology roadmap for all the product teams.
Directed all the technology groups including systems, network, database and applications to ensure fool-proof operations for the SAAS operations. Established “Center of Excellence” for technology operations during the tenure which was initiated to leverage SAAS operations. Implemented the ITSM best practices by utilizing ITIL v3 standards. Authored and managed the plan to improve data center management and reduce costs by consolidating hardware/software.

• Doubled SaaS net profit in 2011-12 by re-designing cost structure and “maximum sweating” of Data Center resources by bringing down unused capacity from 30% to 4%.

Client - Merck Sharpe and Dohme IA Corp; Singapore (MSD)
MSD is having 1200+ oracle databases for it’s various divisions. Working as client facing Primary DBA and Primary Data Architect for 35 databases which are having 30 terrabytes of data as a whole in MSD’s USHH/WHHM (US Human Health/World Human Health & Manufacturing) division. All the databases running in HP ux/Sun Solaris and database type varies from data warehousing/data mart and oltp systems. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to installing, maintaining RAC/Non RAC databases, analyzing and troubleshooting performance issues related to RAC production systems. Designing and maintaining database structure in Erwin data modeler and migration of these changes to development/test and production environments and documenting them. Execution of environment refreshes with data pump/ exp/ production to test/qa/dev environments, doing database clones with RMAN, initiating, coordinating and executing 9i to 10g database upgrades and patching and providing 24/7 pager support to production databases for any issues.
Achievements
Within a short time period able to get appreciated by the client for the professional support provided to them and able to attain trust from them to get more challenging tasks on frontline production support. Spearheaded the team in implementing several standby databases with Oracle Dataguard. Successfully completed several RAC/Non-RAC production and QA implementations. Instrumental in providing 24 X 7 support in production RAC environments and ensured 99.99% high availability and all supported environments. Executed several oracle upgrades and character set migrations successfully. Researched and implemented several performance enhancements in the supporting production databases with advanced tuning methods. Brought in more automations in day to day dba related jobs.
DBA (2001- 2006)
Worked as Senior DBA and supported the company and it’s four sister concerns of the group for DBA related jobs. Provided front-line support of 40 Oracle databases (both production and development databases) running under both Linux and windows servers, including a wide variety of tasks from database recovery to code releases. Lead a team of 5 DBAs in database environment creation, cloning, upgrades and other project-orientated tasks. Provided 24 X 7 support for all production databases. Implemented oracle RAC 9i for the first time in the company and brought in the in-house expertise. Instrumental in designing data models for the internal systems and worked as the chief reviewer of the new oracle application code releases . Mentored permanent Junior DBAs. Lead the analysis and redevelopment activities of the application code to improve performance dramatically and increase resilience. Planning and co-ordination of monthly schema changes and data updates for all development projects and technical maintenance, liaising with colleagues, developers, technical, operations and support staff to ensure deadlines met and accuracy guaranteed.

Implemented Oracle RAC 9i for the first time in the company and brought in the in-house RAC expertise. Assisted in the migration of SQL and PL/SQL code between various database environments.
