• Acts as coordinator to all hospital staff relevant to infection control.
• Ensures consistency high standards of patient care are maintained by constant reviewed of policy and procedures manual.
• Responsible for the day-to-day functions of the Infection Control Committee (ICC).
• Investigates type of infection and infecting organism.
• Participates in outbreak investigation.
• Conducts surveillance of hospital infections.
• Participates in orientation and training of the new nursing staff and ancillary staff assigned to a particular infection control.
• Participates in the training program organized by the In- Service Education Coordinator to keep abreast of the new development in the nursing health care
• Directs and coordinates infection control program in hospital: Compares laboratory reports with communicable diseases list to identify conditions that require infection control procedures.
• Advises and consults with physicians, nurses, and hospital personnel concerning precautions to be taken to protect patients, staff, and other persons from possible contamination or infection.
• Investigates infection control problems and arranges for follow-up care for persons exposed to infection or disease.
• Instructs hospital personnel in universal and specific infection control procedures.
• Assist in the development of infection control policies, reviews and approves patient care policies relevant to infection control.
• Serves as liaison with the other department of the hospital.
• Attends professional meetings and conferences on matters related to infection control.
• Daily communication with all areas with patient involvement to check infectious communicable disease; communicates results to chief nurse and infection control chairman.
• Serves as preceptor in nursing training program.
• Takes part and assist research studies relevant to infection control.
