DU is one of the leading service providers in UAE who offer fixed and mobile telephony, broadband connectivity and IPTV services to individuals, homes and businesses, and carrier services for businesses.
Fixed access network is part of technology department which will take care of building the initial infrastructure to cater any kind customer’s requirement. My role involves in Network planning, testing the new equipment form vender before bringing it into our production network and solutions for network optimization with proven test results. All tasks are considered as projects.
Network Infrastructure Planning:
Analyze the requirement for new building in terms of Active and passive equipment.
Preparation network design and configuration script
Extending the support to implementation team to Active Equipment arrangement and installation
Coordinating with concerned team till the site get ready for service
New Active Equipment testing and certification:
Coordinate with vendor for device delivery in our premises
Preparing the LAB setup for testing
Invite the concerned team for the demo and approval
Support the operation team for pilot installations and troubleshooting session
Network Solutions & Optimization:
Supporting Operation team for the issues which require design modification
Coordinating with vendor to get updates regarding new IOS upgrade, Patch installation and test prior to upgrade the production devices.
Supporting the Service Activation team on the issues they face on their day to day activities
Supporting business team to provide Customized Solution for customer
DGIRP (Dubai Govt. Information Resource Planning) is part of HHRC (working as ISP for all Dubai government departments) to provide network, security support and consultancy to all Dubai govt. departments. I am managing Government Internet work core consisting of 6 STM-1 with 40 E3’s, Leased Circuits, ISDN PRI/BRI as backups and DR sites. The network includes around 80 (Cisco 515, 525, 535, ASA) Firewalls, 100 (Cisco 7600, 7200, 3745, 3660, 2800, 2600)routers, IDS, ISS IPS, Net cache engines, Packeteer, Cisco Content Switch for Internet content redirections and DNS/GSLB based load balancing across DR sites. The responsibility includes managing and troubleshooting technologies like OSPF, PBR, QOS, IPSEC, Firewalls, VPN, AAA, RSA, and Vlans. I am using the tools and software’s like CSPM, Site Protector, JFFNMS, Solar Winds, Ethereal, CiscoWorks2000, ACS, Net cache appliance and RSA servers.
ü Installation, configuration, Troubleshooting of LAN & Corporate WAN including Routers & Switches. Internet Connectivity using Cisco PIX Firewall
ü Troubleshooting network connectivity problems with Routers in all branch offices.
ü The Network equipments include Cisco 3600, 2600, 1700, 800, Catalyst 2950, Catalyst 3500, Catalyst 1900, and Cisco 515 Firewall etc.
ü Installing & configuring LAN connectivity through Windows NT & Windows 2000 server family and SCO Unix server and Workstations
ü Server OS Installation and Maintenance of LAN.
ü Installation, Configuration & maintenance for Cisco switches and routers
ü Troubleshooting network connectivity problems with Routers in all branch offices.
ü Installing & configuring LAN connectivity through Windows NT & Windows 2000 server family and SCO Unix server and Workstations
ü The Network equipments include Cisco 2600, 1700, 800, Catalyst 2900, Catalyst 1900, and Cisco 515 Firewall etc.
ü Installing remote Workstations & Printers through modem, mux, and router.
ü Maintenance of 500 computers, 150 printers, 20 plotters, network and server level problems.
ü Providing e-mail and Internet facility either through Dial Up Networking or through Local Network (Proxy and mail server running on Windows NT server)
ü Adding users in UNIX & Windows NT & 2000 server family, assigning rights and granting access to network resources with maximum security.
ü Site Offices Network connections and computer installations
ü Liaisons with Telecommunications Engineers for problems with ISDN line
ü Direct the activities of supplier ' engineer s involved in installation and commissioning and maintenance activities of hardware equipment
ü Reporting to I.T manager for day to day activity and coordination with other senior staffs to identify problem area of system/operation malfunctioning
ü Responding to user request, analyzing malfunctioning complaints to identify the nature of the fault whether hardware, software/application, system or network and act immediately to rectify the error.

Ø Installing and configuring of Novell Server and setting up Clients in DOS and Windows environment and assigning rights to user and providing access to Network resources.
Ø Installing and configuring UNIX and Windows NT servers, Novel Server
Ø Assembling, troubleshooting and maintenance of IBM compatible PC’s
Ø Component level servicing of peripherals like monitor, keyboards, SMPS, all kinds of Dot Matrix printers and all models of TEXAS INSTRUMENT printers
Ø Troubleshooting of Dumb terminals connected to UNIX hosts
Ø Component level servicing of Dumb terminals
ü Installation, maintenance & servicing of microprocessor controlled amusement machines, video game etc
ü Servicing of all kinds of switched mode power supplies and input/output devices
