A general care nurse is the central link in a patients recovery, combining medical expertise with constant clinical
monitoring and emotional support. This experience involves performing head-to-toe physical assessments, tracking
vital signs, and identifying early signs of patient deterioration to ensure quick medical intervention. Daily tasks include
the safe administration of medications, managing intravenous (IV) therapies, and providing professional wound care
and dressing changes.
Beyond technical skills, the role requires high-level coordination between doctors, therapists, and families to ensure
the treatment plan is followed correctly. This includes maintaining detailed electronic health records and preparing
patients for a safe discharge through clear education and follow-up instructions. Working in this environment also
develops the ability to multitask in high-pressure situations, managing the needs of multiple patients simultaneously
while providing a compassionate and supportive atmosphere for those in pain or distress.
