In my career as a safety officer, Ive developed the skills and knowledge necessary to keep employees in the L&T hydrocarbon (HPCL site) industry safe and productive. During this, we have achieved 17 million man hours without LTI. During these experiences, I learned how to give safety training to the workers and also conducted many induction training programs to the new workers and this gave me a flexibility to interact with the workers and to motivate them to work safely. I personally used to monitor all the jobs that were assigned to my site area, and also aware of the activities going on the remaining site to be involved in the work area as much as I can to ensure the safety of the workplace. By conducting tool box talks (TBT) before starting of the job i got to know about the activities that were planned to be done, and personally I use to categorize them in to High risk, Medium risk and low risk activities by the nature of the job, so that I can have a note to avoid simultaneous activities to be done at the same place at the same time. Explaining the emergency sirens to the workmen and educating them about the emergency assembly point by conducting mock drills so that the workers will be aware of the immediate plan of action that needs to be done at the time of emergency. Explaining the workers to Never put yourself in the line of fire.
In addition to my L&T hydrocarbon industry experience, I possess strong professional and technical skills and believe I can be successful in the role.That role allowed me to develop my knowledge of Health & Safety and NEBOSH regulations. I ensured that floor employees understood safety and sanitation regulations, trained new shift managers in first aid and machinery safety.
