Job Summary:
Responsible for managing financial records, cost control, and project-based accounting for construction and road works. Ensures accurate tracking of project expenses, compliance with financial regulations, and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Accounting & Cost Control
Maintain project-wise accounts for each road/construction project
Track costs: materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors
Monitor budget vs actual expenses and report variances
Prepare job costing and profitability analysis
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
Process supplier invoices (materials, subcontractors, equipment rentals)
Verify LPOs, GRNs, and contract terms before payments
Prepare customer invoices based on work progress (IPC / progress billing)
Follow up on receivables and client payments
3. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Generate project-wise financial reports for management
Assist in budgeting and forecasting
4. Payroll & Labor Accounting
Manage payroll for workers and staff (including overtime, site allowances)
Ensure compliance with labor laws (especially relevant in UAE/GCC if applicable)
Handle WPS (Wage Protection System) processing
5. Inventory & Asset Management
Track construction materials (cement, asphalt, aggregates, etc.)
Monitor site inventory and reconcile with usage
Maintain fixed asset register (machinery, vehicles, equipment)
6. Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with VAT regulations (e.g., UAE VAT)
Prepare VAT returns and documentation
Assist with internal and external audits
Maintain proper documentation for contracts and financial transactions
7. Banking & Cash Management
Reconcile bank statements regularly
Monitor cash flow and project funding needs
Handle guarantees (performance bonds, bank guarantees, LCs)
Key Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of construction accounting & job costing
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
Understanding of contract management & billing cycles
Knowledge of VAT (UAE or relevant region)
Advanced Excel skills (cost tracking, reporting)
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance
2-5+ years experience in construction or road contracting industry
Preferred Experience:
Experience in road works, infrastructure, or civil projects
Handling progress billing (IPC) and BOQ-based accounting
Working with subcontractors and large-scale project costing

I have practical experience in managing high-volume transactions, performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end closures. I am also well-versed in VAT compliance and regulatory requirements in the region, which is critical for maintaining financial accuracy and avoiding penalties.
In addition, I have worked with accounting systems like Xero and ERP platforms, where I have been responsible for system setup, process improvements, and strengthening internal controls. This has helped improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

An Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting business decision-making through proper analysis and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
Handle general ledger accounting and journal entries.
Monitor budgets, expenses, and cost control measures.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (IFRS).
Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
Manage VAT filing and tax-related activities (especially relevant in UAE/GCC).
Support payroll processing and employee expense verification.
Maintain proper documentation and filing systems for financial records.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Odoo, Sage, Xero, ERP systems).
