Promoted as General Manager Supply Chain, Procurement & Operations of Food Franchising Division of the Group which owns two major international food franchises - Yogen Fruz, Canada (Frozen Yogurt) (www.yogenfruzpakistan.com) and Cheeky Joes, Canada (Coffee, Snacks & Desserts) (www.cheekyjoes.com) for entire Pakistan. At present the Group owns 22 outlets in Pakistan and 10 more are in different phases of construction. Briefly, my responsibilities reporting to the Chief Executive include:

1. Contribute to the overall organizational policies and strategic planning to achieve objectives of opening maximum number of franchises, provide franchisees full support and make their businesses success for optimum benefits for both parties.

2. Designing and development of Operations and Commercial policies, strategies and policies aligned with organizational goals.

3. Heading overall operations in line with operational policies and business plans.

4. Lead the development and implementation of improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.

5. Franchisee support from the design stage to selection of equipment, ordering deliveries, installation, commissioning and testing, opening and initial operations, keeping track of and analyzing pre-determined sales targets vis-à-vis actual sales, keeping track of customer feedback and introduce improvements in quality of products and services, evaluation of employees’ performance at retail sites to ensure they achieve their respective targets.

6. Lead the overall operations of 22 Frozen Yogurt and Coffee Shops including their inventory requirements, equipment maintenance and repairs, staff requirements, etc.

7. International as well as local sourcing and procurement of:

a) all machinery and equipment - Coffee Machines, Coffee Grinders, Barista Kits, Water Softeners, Soft Serve Machines, Blast Freezers and Chillers, Freezers and Chillers, Topping Dispensers, Under-counter fridges and freezers, Gelato Freezers, Fresh Topping Bars, Acrylic Dispensers, etc.

b) food ingredients (chocolates, filling, pre-mixes, semi-processed/frozen etc.)
c) flavors and toppings for Coffee, Tea and Frozen Yogurt
d) disposables goods (coffee and yogurt cups, lids, stirrers, spoons, packaging material, napkins);
e) management of local production of Frozen Yogurt;
f) yogurt ingredients - Cultures, Stabilizers, Emulsifiers
g) Frozen Fruits (IQF)
h) Coffee & Coffee Syrups
i) Furniture & Fixtures
8. Overall Supply Chain - forwarding, customs clearance.
9. Cold Storage (-20C and +3-5C) and regular storage/warehousing, distribution, transportation (regular and Reefer) logistics
10. Dealing with Franchisors, handling their technical, royalty and marketing fees matters.
11. Dealing with Trademark and licencing issues and ensuring that our proprietary material is not misused by our Franchisees and third parties;
12. Dealing with Franchisees, new store openings and solving operational issues;
13. Supervising after-sales-service and maintenance of Franchisee proprietary equipment supplied by my Company;
14. Legal and corporate affairs (general legislation, Franchisor and Franchisee related issues)
15. Drafting and vetting of Franchise Agreements, Unit Franchise Agreements, Licence Agreements, MoUs, notices, etc.
16. Management of the Flagship Outlet working as a training centre for Franchisees.
17. Applying for and obtaining government permissions and licences and ensuring their up-to-date status to eliminate problems;
I have excellent contacts in the international as well as local market, logistics, warehousing and transportation companies and can arrange equipment, supplies and services at cost-effective rates.

Commercial: Contribute to pre-qualification processes, Client dealing, getting RFQs, preparing bids, negotiations, solving client-project team problems, sign-off of sites, invoicing & follow up for payments, pre-qualification of sub-ccons, enlistment of sub-cons, contractor evaluation; Import of telecom equipment (Site Masters, BERTS, Concrete Testers, Cables, Rectifiers, etc.)

Human Resource: Overall HR responsibility including HR planning, recruitment, motivation, succession planning, performance appraisal, disciplinary issues, final settlements, and outsourcing. We had several expat employees. I was responsible for their entire HR matters, well-being and safety and security of their families, their accommodation, visas etc.

Labour matters: Solving labour related issues.

Legal: All legal and statutory matters, ISO Certifications etc.

Assistant Manager Personnel & Admin. at Phoenix Security Service (Pvt) Ltd.

Phoenix is the largest security company in Pakistan employing more than 12, 000 personnel through-out Pakistan. Supported by appropriate Human Resource, Personnel & Admin staff, my responsibilities:

• HR and Personnel Matters of about 1, 500 regular employees and personnel matters, legal dues, insurance and salary claims of 10, 000+ security personnel working on different projects and at different client locations;

• Recruitment of regular employees; performance appraisal, salary, overtime and final settlements;

• Security verification of ex-servicemen from the Pakistan Army;

• Handled all labour disputes, represented the company in different forums in connection with unlawful termination, reinstatement, non-payment of dues claimed by employees or in case of death by their dependents/legal heairs, death and disability cases of employees and third parties, vehicles accidents and claims;

• Commercial & General Admin: Selection & finalization of branch offices in all parts of Pakistan, purchasing furniture & fixtures, office equipment, internet, phone, fax and photocopying services;

• Handled Special Project under which 500+ guarding staff was recruited and sent to UAE under an agreement with Emirates Airlines in the UAE. I designed the entire selection and recruitment procedure, medical examination, Protector of Immigration and NICOP process, visa application, ticketing, briefing before departure. I also prepared and issued all the advertisements and short-listing of candidates before interviews.

Human Resources: Overall HR work for the 1, 000 permanent (managerial, supervisory and officer cadre employees);

Labour issues: All labour disputes for the entire 11, 000 guarding staff of whom majority was retired army personnel.
