Executed the migration of the legacy DCS (Distributed Control System) of DOW to an ABB platform for a Methylene Diisocyante (MDI) plant producing 500 tons of product per day.
Engineered control strategies such as feed-forward, constraint and custom controls. Executed re-write and uplift of 4 out of 12 sections of the process. Devised simulation environment on ABB platform for testing and operator training.
Undertook commissioning & start-up of DCS systems for three phases of the plant, collaborated with the instrumentation team for loop checks and safety integrated system (SIS) validations.
The DCS commissioning of the MDI plant consisting of 3 trains of varying capacities was completed in three phases. A maximum of 4 days was taken for the successful migration of each train, ensuring almost no disturbance to process and production.
Built design and control strategies such as cascade, ratio, and split range controls for a pilot Water Batch Plant set up within the Dow facility in Chennai. Conducted training of 15 new recruits and college graduates through this plant. Coached colleagues in simulation concepts.
Delivered proposals for containerized water treatment plants with capacities ranging from 200-300 cubic meters per day, catering to the needs of desalination plants, parks, apartments and commercial centers.
Implemented designs of Moving Bed Bio-Reactors (MBBR), Ultra Filtration & Reverse Osmosis Systems, Sequential Batch Reactors (SBR), Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR), Filtration Systems, Grey Water Systems, etc.
Established PLC panel requirement, costing of I/O cards, wiring and controllers.
Amplified competitive costing through Design Optimization & feasible vendors and suppliers
Formulated the winning proposal of a 250 million liters per day Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Delhi, India. The plant had a water treatment section and a biogas production section.
Created Process Design Calculations, Hydraulic Design Calculations, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram, Hydraulic Flow Diagrams, Load lists, Plant Layouts, Bill of Quantities and Process Descriptions.
Produced RFQs (Request for Quotations) and Offer Comparisons of vendors and suppliers
Participated in the commissioning of the entire STP plant involving sections such as screening, bio-treatment, polishing and bio-gas generation
