• Support Plant operation on daily bases by resolving complex instrumentation and controls issues including valve malfunctions / Controller loop tunings/Transmitter calibration & range adjustments/ recommending instrument upgrades, Selection & conversion of pneumatic controllers to electronic controllers / DCS, SIS, PLC &HMI support.
• Support / troubleshoot / propose upgrades for Petro Rabigh Refinery control system assets.
• Leading I&C up gradation / design and segregation for 250, 000 barrels refinery (brown field) revamp project.

• To ensure engineering deliverable schedule for meeting brownfield/ CAPEX / OPEX project.
• Handling vendors & contractors change orders / Trends for Petro Rabigh phase II project.
• MOC and engineering recommendation issuance and verification in SAP.
• Critical instrumentation and controls spare identification and availability management in SAP.
• Issue trip investigation / finding / resolution report.
• Conducting pre-mechanical completion walk through and providing punch list to engineering/ construction contractor.
• Identify critical preventive maintenance requirements for instrumentation and controls and complete PM during turnaround within the deadlines.
• Performing / supporting equipment pre startup safety checks.
• A fluent understanding of LOTO process and Permit to Work
• Review instrumentation vendor packages after OPEX /CAPEX project completion.
• Prepare proposal, review EWR’s & CWP’s and provide comments and markups.
• Propose replacing discontinued / obsolete instrumentation and control systems.
• Participate and support FAT & SAT.
• Support plant commissioning and start up activities.
• Supervise work of the EPC, contractors.
• Prepare responses to technical queries RFIs, as required.
• Utilization of PI to obtain trends for troubleshooting / plant reliability improvement.
• Participate / support PHA, HAZOP related to upgrade projects.
• Propose safety interlocks design / improvements.
• Conduct alarm rationalization to find and suppress nuisance alarms.
• Review and approve documentation from EPC for green filed project and redline documents from EPC /contractors for brown field projects.
Working as Lead Instrumentation Engineer for Amec Americas (Kearl Oil Sands Expansion Project). Calgary. Alberta. Canada.
Duties Include but not limited to:
•To ensure deliverable engineering Schedule for meeting engineering and construction required dates.
•Managing Instrumentation Group / Planning and Control of Project activities.
•Responsible for coordination with other disciplines during project execution.
•Progress Reporting / Man Hour Estimation and Control. (Convero) Communication and negotiation with Clients and Vendors.
•P&ID / Shut down hierarchy development and review.
•Participation in Hazop / SIL reviews & FMEA analysis.
•3D Model Review (SPR) and Clash report Closeout.
•Lead teams of design engineers and draftsmen during project execution / mentor junior staff.
•Generate / Quality check I&C engineering documentation, including Inst data sheets, control narratives, cause and effect, Alarm set point list, Alarm Management Data base, instrumentation index, Cable Schedule, F&G Layout drawing, F&G device list, Instrument location drawings, I/O list, Serial interface list, Foreign device list. etc.
•Knowledge and experience applying codes and standards such as CSA, API, ANSI and ISA.
•Managing Site/Module yard RFI clarification & reply to support site commissioning and start up activities.
•Generate package handover report / Project instructions & procedures for follow-on design team.
•Generate work instructions for cable schedule preparation and SPI /SPELL integration.
•Kearl initial development (Phase 1) startup and commissioning planning and support.

•Responsible for BMS / heater instrumentation Package FAT and punch list closeout.
•PLC cabinet design / configuration.
•Heater & BMS DCS graphic support.
•Spec and purchase field instruments including electronic and pneumatic transmitter, switches, analyzers, control valves, relief valves, ESD valve, flow meters etc.
•Control Valve /Orifice Plate / Relief valve / Thermowell / Flow meter sizing and calculations.
•Instrument location Layout / cable tray layout drawing creation.
•Hookup drawings, line list, Electrical equipment list Generation.
•P&ID Review & Tag Number Control.
•Proficient in use of smart plant Instrumentation (INtools) software.
•Hazop / PHA / Kick-off meetings with client to ensure client requirements, Status updates & schedule control for smooth execution of project.
•Complete bid evaluation and Vendor recommendation documentation.
