Africa travel and tourism indaba

Durban, South Africa

January 2016 - June 2026

Since began my tertiary education in 2016, I have had the pleasure of being exposed to the MICE
(Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) sector where I have been involved in both
the preparations of the events and the actual events. At the Africas Tourism Indaba, I have had
opportunities to work at the front desk where we welcome delegates, conduct registration for
them and do room drops.
Moreover, as a student I did take part-time jobs at events and restaurants which included:
• Waitering, and
• Assessing customer satisfaction.
I have worked with different companies for different events which attract both national and
international media scale. Some of the events include graduation ceremonies, Africas Tourism
Indaba, AMCEN (African Ministerial Conference on the Environment), Durban July, Comrades
Marathon and many more. The roles and duties vary but all these events have empowered me
with many skills in both tourism and hospitality and have also helped me to become even more
well-spoken and confident.
