Overall planning, coordination, and control of project from beginning to completion with respect to client's requirement in order to produce a functionally and financially viable project.
Job Duty and Responsibilities:
Reviews all engineering design, drawings of section of the project before passing them for use to groups.
Directs and supervises project engineers in the performance of all aspects of their work.
Exercises strict control over costs of construction particularly the use of labor, materials and equipment. This includes reviewing variances from budgeted expenditure and recommends / initiates action to bring them under control.
Discusses and resolves daily site problems with site supervisors.
Monitors construction progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and provides input to the regular reports.
Maintains functional links with other unit heads in the project, particularly with the Accounts and Administration units.
Makes forward plans in section of the project for the release of equipment and personnel employed.
Compile construction programme based on milestones and deliverables and review regularly with construction team and identify corrective actions.
Monitor, control and improve production and productivity levels on site.
Ensure that construction costs are accurately captured and reviewed to ensure proper cost control and cost reduction.
Identify most effective and efficient construction methodology and compile method statements with site engineers and foremen.
Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are adhered to on a construction site.
Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and delivering a product that adheres to the specifications.
Promote harmonious industrial relations at all times.
Engages in disciplinary hearings as required in terms of Disciplinary Procedures.
Establish and maintain relationships with construction role players.
