Project: Luberef Yanbu Refinery Expansion

Project Overview: Luberef Yanbu Refinery is the largest crude oil refinery in the world. The estimated investment for the expansion of the refinery is $1bn. The expansion is expected to increase the overall capacity of the refinery from the current 280, 000t a year to 710, 000t a year of base oil. Its aim is to increase the production of API Group II and Group III base oils. The expansion includes the construction of a new sulphur treatment complex, hydrofinishing unit and hydrocracker. It will also expand the capacity of the vacuum distillation unit from the existing 26, 000 barrels per day (bpd) to 40, 000bpd. The capacity of the propane de-asphalting unit will be increased, from the current 6, 500bpd to 12, 500bpd. The existing electrical facilities at the refinery will be extended and upgraded, plus a new cooling tower for water cooling system will be constructed. Additional 25 storage tanks will be built as part of the expansion.

Project Overview: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (approx US$1bln) is a bold new initiative on the part of the Saudi Aramco Oil Company to promote cultural development within the Kingdom. This project provides for the construction of an approximately 80, 000 square meters multistory complex. It has prestigious cultural facilities, including an auditorium, cinema, library, exhibition hall, museum and archive that will provide a wide range of activities serving the local population and becoming a cultural landmark on both a regional, national and global horizon. The project also includes the internal upgrading of the existing Saudi Aramco Exhibit Center, construction of temporary site office facilities and mosque.

Project Overview: Pearl GTL is the biggest Gas to Liquid project (approx. US$20bln) based in Qatar which will convert natural gas into liquid petroleum products. It will be the largest GTL plant in the world with the capacity to convert 1.6 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day into 140, 000 barrels per day of petroleum liquids and 120 kilo barrels of oil equivalent into natural gas liquid and ethane. During its peak construction stage, more than 52, 000 people from over 50 countries were involved in building the project for partners Qatar Petroleum and Shell, which set new safety records.

Project Overview: Kuwait Oil Company expanded its Crude Oil Export Facilities (US$1.5bln) at Mina Al-Ahmadi from 2.4 million bpd (stage 1) to 3 million bpd (final stage). The crude export facilities includes 19 storage tanks, 4 crude and gravity manifolds, 2 single point mooring (SPM) calm buoys, gravity lines, pump station and a bunker fuel facility including the supply and installation of 5 pipeline 48 inch diameter each, 4 pumps and metering skids and 3 submarine pipelines including an MEW substation.

Project: Facilities Upgrading Project in Kuwait Oil Company Gathering Centers Group B

Project Overview: Kuwait Oil Company programmed a US$1.23bn deal to upgrade the nation's aging oil and gas fields. It involves the replacement of existing underground crude oil and gas flow lines in 10 gathering centers (GC's) and one booster station (BS). Group B of the project covers 10 GC's 1, 2, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 19, 20 and 22 and BS 170. The contract is to upgrade the overall facilities and relocate underground process piping, upgrade the existing condensate recovery units, installed gas detection and hydrogen sulphide systems, new centrifugal compressors, air coolers, condensate pumps, flare lines, valves and other associated facilities.
