• Initial brought onto the ISIS project (a £4M student record system) on a consultancy basis but after 5 months I was offered a long term contract.

• Leading a team of developers, dba and system administrators to deliver a new Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) the underlying platform was Agresso. This project had time driven deadlines set by universities student life cycle. Following the Prince2 methodology.

• Coordinated the installation of the ISIS estate which consists of a 40 plus server enterprise server farm. This includes clustered SQL server 2005 databases and network load balanced web servers. The whole estate had access to its own SAN which provides flexible growth of the estate. Working with virtualised test environments.

• Rolling out SharePoint Portal Services for the staff and student zones. This will allow the ISIS estate to have one central portal interface that all the other legacy system will be able to communicate through.

• Interfacing with the ISIS system with other systems on the estate such as the oracle finance and HR systems.

• Implementing Microsoft CRM 3 system that is being rolled out to the university department by department basis

• Maintained revenue generating and external services to a 70, 000 customer base around the world with a 98% uptime. Scholar programme (http://scholar.hw.ac.uk).
• Delivered sharepoint functionality and customisations for £1.2M CeLLS projectwww.cellsproject.org
• Increased productivity by introducing a virtual workspace for employees to brainstorm using Sharepoint.
• Rationalised legacy services and reduced TCO by deploying a number of Virtual solutions using VMWare.
• Developed and implemented procedures to run security checks for the complete estate every 6 months to identify flaws in our network.
• Successfully migrated estate from Windows 2000 to 2003 server environment and all desktops to Windows XP.
• Supported up to 6 managers over 4 continents.
• By automating Windows updates, centralising anti-virus control and automating patch updates I significantly reduced the TCO of our estate whilst providing significant improvements to the reporting structure.
• Significantly improved on call response times by deploying reliable early warning monitoring system.
• Setup the appropriate escalation procedures for our On Call Team. This has been a major factor in achieving our 98% uptime.
• Improved resiliency of our web services by installing a hardware network load balancing solution. Similar solution to improve our database resilience which will be implemented later in the year.
