Dear Hiring Manager,
I am a polymer science and engineering R&D expert and academic instructor seeking an academic or
industrial position in polymer engineering.
I obtained my PhD in Polymer Engineering in 2009 from the University of Akron, having completed a
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Polymer Engineering in 2005 at the same university. My
doctoral research involved processing and characterization of biodegradable polymer nanocomposite
films for various applications. After graduation, I joined INDEVCO Group, a multinational packaging and
consumer goods firm headquartered in Lebanon.
I was first hired as a Technical Manager at an INDEVCO affiliate — UNIPLAST in Jeddah, KSA — for 18
months. I then started up an R&D Center (PACT: Polymer Application Center for Technology) in Lebanon
in early 2011 for the entire flexible packaging and compounding divisions of INDEVCO, which
include 10 companies located between Lebanon, KSA, Egypt and USA. In tandem, I assumed teaching
positions at local Lebanese universities including Notre Dame University and Holy Spirit University of
Kaslik, in their respective Mechanical and Chemical Engineering departments. I coordinated R&D
collaborations between five universities, advising on over 30 Masters and Final Year projects, several of
which were published in scientific journals.
In 2017, as Senior Technical and R&D Expert at PACT, I led the INDEVCO R&D Center to become one
of the first industrial firms in Lebanon to attain ISO 17025 accreditation for lab testing, with 16 different
accredited testing procedures. My role included working on or approving all technical and R&D reports
that were produced by the department. I am also a current member of SPE (Society of Plastics
Engineers) and a Chemical Engineering industrial board member for 3 different universities, including
Lebanese University, University of Balamand and Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. A creative hard worker
with vast experience in the polymer science and engineering field, I have developed several polymer
blend and polymer composite formulations for various applications in addition to optimizing production
processes for these materials and analyzing and optimizing the materials’ thermal, mechanical, physical
and rheological properties based on structure-processing-property relationships.
