Scope/Description: A GES contract requires JacobsZATE to scope, define and execute medium and significant CAPEX projects at Saudi Aramco Shell Refinery. The contract also required office based construction and commissioning support of the project.
Responsibilities: Assigned as Lead Engineer and responsible for planning, execution and delivery of process engineering deliverables for multiple projects related to refinery upgrade, de-bottle necking and modification. Major responsibilities include:
DETAILED ENGINEERING FOR GAS COMPRESSION FACILITIES AT PS-3 STABILIZER UNIT, HAWTAH KSA

Scope/Description: Due to change in crude composition, Saudi Aramco decided to upgrade existing crude stabilizer column and upgrade stabilizer overhead vapor compression train by installing additional compression train. To improve NGL recovery, new propane based chilling unit was advised. New NGL pumps were also installed for transferring the NGL into cross country pipeline.
FEASIBILITY FOR NEW GAS OIL SEPARATION UNIT, JUBAIL, KSA

Scope/Description: A new 300MBSC crude increment in production capacity is planned and therefore, a new GOSP was to be designed to cater for this additional production. The products from the GSOP were to be received at existing Uthmaniya and Khursaniya Gas Plants. A feasibility study to identify the required upgrades at these plants was also required.

Kandhkot Field gas Compression System

Lead Engineer, Commissioning and construction support of 210MMscfd gas compression plant with configuration of 3 x 50% centrifugal compressors, detail engineering was done earlier by the project team.
Green House Gases (GHG) Emission Reduction Study

Lead Engineer, conceptual study to reduce green house gases emission from 120MMSCFD gas processing plant. Identifying the available methods for reducing CO2 (from flaring and fuel gas firing) and fugitive emissions (from the process units) and selecting the suitable method for application at the gas processing facility in order to gain saleable carbon credits as per Kyoto Protocol. Performed process simulation to estimate CO2 production from gas fired power plant.
Power Plant GHG Emission Reduction Study

Lead Engineer, Conceptual study to find out amounts of CO2, SOx and NOx that are generated by conventional firing gas turbine. Identify different NOx emission reduction techniques at gas turbine such as Dry Low-NOx firing, Steam and water injection and at flue gase such as Selective Catalytic Reduction and Selective Non Catalytic Reduction and select suitable method for it’s implementation. Similarly, study different SOx reduction techniques and methods to increase power generation per unit mass of CO2 produced and rate their implementation in this specific power project.

LPG Recovery from CDU Off gases
National Refinery Pakistan Ltd.
Conceptual Study to identify the suitable solvent for LPG in the CDU off gases. The purpose of this recovery was to decrease fuel gas import from national gas distribution system.
Worked as Process Engineer and performed HYSYS simulation for absorption of LPG in Heavy / Light Naphtha and HSD stream. Reccomended Heavy Naphtha as suitable solvent.
Ormen Lange Gas Processing facility (Akura, Norway)
Process Engineer working on 3 phase separators and flare system during Front End Engineering of Dehydration section of 1.93 billion cubic feet per day gas processing complex.
Sufed-Koh LPG/NGL Recovery Plant (BuildCore Engineering Ltd)
Process engineer worked on proposal stage of 25MMSCFD LPG/NGL Recovery plant. Preliminary simulation of the plant to identify major equipments and vendor packages for this purpose.

Detail engineering for utilities of new Poly vinyl chloride, Vinyl Chloride monomer and Chlor-Alkali plants during Back Integration project (BIP) of Engro-Asahi Polymers and Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd. Performed steam generation unit sizing (De-Aerator, Boiler Feed Water pump, Steam and condensate network), raw water system, potable water system, complete cooling water supply and return network and waste water handling units.
Obtained Merit Certificate for achieving 75% in 1st year, Engineering. Overall, 70.64% aggregate in Engineering.
