Since the long-term EEG analysis by visual inspection is very time consuming and unreliable process, thus in this project, machine learning algorithm is developed with aim to reduce this analysis time and increase reliability. In this work, background activity is exploited for computation of features such as relative entropy, Cauchy-Schwartz divergence, change in median absolute deviation, change in normalized coefficient of variation and change in Katz fractal dimension. Later, these features were used to train an expert system which was able to detect all seizures present in 10 patient data of 445 hours with a mean latency of 3.14 second and median false detection rate of 2.16 per hour.
