The Senior Human Resources Officer, Country Support working under the supervision of the HR Manager Africa is
accountable for the provision of specific and technical human resources support to national and international IFRC
staff within the mandate countries.
Achievements in the past 6 months:
- Undertaken Salary Survey projects in South Sudan and Ethiopia
- Completed HR audit/needs assessments in the regional office, Ethiopia and South Sudan, to be rolled out across the region.
Responsible for the management of MicroEnsure Africa region human resource and administration providing business support and facilities, handling vendor and supplier management issues, leading and supporting the development and implementation of human resource; business administration; office management, developing and implementing policies and procedures under the management of the Head of Africa and dotted line to the Global Head of HR based in UK.
I also provide support to the Kenya office local employees and management around HR; office and facilities management; vendor; travel and expense management, and other business support needs.

Oversee all recruitment and selection process
• Prepare and issue contracts per LVCT policy
• Administer staff welfare benefits and handle welfare issues
• Coordinate timely staff evaluations/appraisals
• Develop and implement staff training and development plans
• Organize and facilitate team building activities for staff to foster team work
• Conduct staff orientation/induction and exit interviews
• Manage payroll and related statutory compliance requirements
• Administration of staff pension scheme
• Support supervision and development of HR and Administration staff
• Review, develop and administer HR policies and procedures
• Maintain, analyse and compile HR reports for tracking and trend analysis purpose
• Coordinate departmental, managers, Board of Trustees, Annual Staff meetings and events both on- site and off-site.
• Oversee the entire administration functions including office security, office equipment and facilities, office supplies.
• Oversee maintenance of up to date HR and admin, and organizational records and ensure security and confidentiality of the same
• Facilitate renewal of lease agreements for office premises, prompt payments of rent and utility
bills, e.g. telephone, water, electricity
• Administer and coordinate staff medical and General Personal Accident schemes
• Ensure compliance with all national legal and statutory requirements of the organization
• Successfully filled over 60 positions that arose from new funding for the organization
• Reviewed and updated HR Manual, Staff welfare guidelines and the staff orientation program to improve on staff retention
• Negotiated for better medical cover with added benefits
• Developed and implemented probation review form
• Improved on appraisal process to attain 100% appraisal completion
• Successfully organized annual staff meetings
