•Direct advisor to the Captain concerning fortification issues and coordinator for the best implementation of the Best Management Practice (BMP-4, hardening / fortification / citadel)
•Direct advisor to the Captain concerning readiness issues/crew and watchmen’s vigilance and crew training
•Responsible for evaluating/assessing potential threats that includes suspect identification and implementing all measures necessary for the protection and prevention of pirate attacks, strictly based on the application of the Rules for the Use of Force (RUF) complying with the company’s SOP’s
•Responsible for coordinating piracy security briefings and implementing drills to the crew and the security guards always taking into account the specific characteristics of the vessel, the crew experience and the destination
•Responsible for preventing abduction and hostage situations
•Team Coordinator for dealing with threat issues (assessing threats, maintenance, managing weapons, target distributions, commands involving prevention and use of weapons etc.)
•Team Coordinator on health and safety issues as well as environmental protection issues that comply with the company’s policy
•Responsible for assessing cultural differences among the local communities, the crew and the area of operation.
•Training of armed guards
