2018-to-date (Expatriate); employed and working as a Senior Power Plant Panel Operator at ADNOC OFFSHORE dealing in offshore thermal power generation of up to 150MW using GE heavy-duty Gas Turbines, reporting directly to Electrical Maintenance Manager.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Operate and monitor the Gas Turbines ensuring the plant is operated within defined parameters from the control center.
• Start and synchronize the turbines in an established procedure, tackle emergency situations and take quick and safe corrective action in case of plant upsets.
• Take immediate decisions and act as the first intervention authority for efficient & smooth power plant operation, continuously monitor the power consumption of the Island, and regulate the power generation accordingly.
• Work independently, particularly during the night shift and take immediate action for proper power plant operations
• Continuously interact with the plant shift supervisors & Senior Panel Operators regarding the startup and stopping of the High-Voltage motors.
• Monitor the power distribution network, and UPS units and report all abnormalities to the electrical engineers.
• Prepare daily and monthly reports for Power & Fuel consumption, Fired time, and operating data and events and Maintain a logbook. Coordinate with plant shift supervisors, Senior Panel Operators, and Utility Operators regarding Gas/Diesel lining up and availabilities.
• Contribute to the performance test of the turbines and prepare relevant data and reports.
• Initiate work requests for the maintenance of the Mark-VIe control panels, and power distribution panel.
• Monitor the voltage & frequency fluctuations of the electrical network continuously and respond to maintain the stability of the electrical grid.
• Monitor and identify the alarms and faults from electrical substations and equipment, and inform the electrical team as per the on-call duty roster
• Manipulate corrective load-sharing adjustments in line with load requirements & air pressure regulations

2012-2018 (Expatriate); Employed and working as a Power Plant and Gas Production Operations Shift Engineer/Supervisor at Contour Global Rwanda dealing in offshore methane gas extraction from Lake Kivu and onshore thermal power generation of up to 100MW, reporting directly to Plant Facilities Manager and Gas Production Manager
Key result areas
• Ensuring close monitoring of the demands from the dispatcher (REG NCC, Rwanda’s Energy/Utility company); and ensuring that the demands are met in due time.
• Communicating with the dispatcher & ensuring close monitoring of the load demands & achieving times (as per request and contracts with the grid operator)
• Maintaining operation data log sheet, preparing daily GEF and Power Plant consolidated reports, engine(s) running schedule as per instruction by Plant Facilities Manager and Gas Production Manager.
• Supervise and monitor planned and unplanned repairs on the barge fleet equipment (including the gas treatment system) Monitor and operate all the gas treatment systems.
• Manage a team of Gas Equipment Technicians and Operations Technicians. Providing necessary hands-on training; communicating effectively with the shift team,
• Supervise and lead Root Cause Analysis of plant equipment failures, with the objective of increasing unit efficiency, reliability, availability, and maintainability.
• Ensuring that the “Work Authorization Process” (LO/TO, PTW, HWPT) is strictly followed for all Equipment under the responsibility. Duly inform the Plant Facilities Manager, Maintenance Manager and Barge Manager of the anomalies noted
• Closely monitoring the quality, stock, and levels of Fuel Gas, Lubricating Oil, Water, and others.
• Ensuring proper and continual training of personnel under my responsibility.
• Bringing in inputs and contributing to activities to improve the Operating Conditions of the Plant.
• Provide technical leadership in defining, evaluating, and correcting technical problems and developing plant improvements.
• Analyze plant O&M data to confirm plant performance to established standards, operating goals, permits, and contracts.
• Monitor and recommend plans for compliance with safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
• Identify and prioritize plant monitoring and performance improvement opportunities or requirements.
• Perform functional and operational testing of plant systems and components. Interpret the acceptability of data in comparison with established standards or sound power plant practices. Assist in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, and accidents, and provide analyses, recommendations, reports, and follow-up plans.
• Maintain logs, records, and data sheets; prepare reports, trends, time sheets, material requisitions, work orders, and other administrative documents related to the business of power production.

2010-2012 Worked as an Operations Shift Engineer/Supervisor on a 2-year contract basis at Wartsila Power Plant Namanve Uganda (Jacobsen Uganda ltd) generating 50MW of thermal power, reporting directly to Operations Manager.

2006-2009 Appointed and worked as a Senior Power Plant Operator at Aggreko International Power Projects Uganda generating 100 MW of thermal power using LFO/Diesel Cummins reciprocating engines, reporting to the Plant Shift Engineer.
Key result areas
• Handling and maintenance of 1250 KVA Cummins Diesel generators, Carrying out ‘A’ and ‘B’ services.
• Working as a Control Engineer/Operator for thermal power generation of 50MW; Starting, stopping, and synchronizing KTA50 1250KVA LFO Generator sets onto the national grid.
• Control of Active and Reactive Power, monitoring key parameters such as generator winding temperature, generator bearing temperatures, etc. Responsible for starting, Run, Synchronizing, Load, and shutdown of generators and other electrical and mechanical equipment as per instructions of the Shift Charge Engineer
• Manually operate valves, pumps, dampers, and other equipment as necessary. Perform switching of electrical equipment up to 11kV. Perform operations to place electrical circuits and generating equipment in and out of service.

• Service, maintain and repair of Electronic Control systems involving programmable logic controllers and frequency drives controlling motor speeds
• Operation of 1MVA Diesel generators supplying power to the Cement Plant during grid failure.
