King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center Jeddah (KFSH&RC-J) was opened in 2000, and achieved the Magnet recognition program certificate from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, in addition to the Joint Commission International accreditation (JCIA) in 2002, being the first Hospital to receive such credentials in Saudi Arabia.

I was the Mechanical Section Head responsible for the operation and maintenance of the following Plants and their related Systems:

- HVAC services, which included total of 14 chillers 400 TR each, 68 air handling units, 950 fan coil units, 24 cold rooms, and 62 medical refrigerators and freezers.

- Water treatment services, which included domestic water plant, reverse osmosis plant, hot water boiler plant, and steam boiler plant. I had to do extensive readings to acquire the knowledge of WHO codes and standards, infection control standards and NFPA standards.

- Plumbing services was part of my scope responsibility. It included all water lines like firefighting systems and network, potable water system and network, sewage system network, and storm water network.

I used to perform the following duties;

- Supervision on the daily maintenance and operation of mechanical services. I used to follow on corrective, reactive, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Analysis of key performance indicators related to pending work orders and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintaining the requirements of the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) standards and codes.
- Liaise with hospital management and coordinate with end users to understand their expectations and their needs and evaluate the service satisfaction.
