Assignment or project: ADB assisted Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Programme (~USD 200 million), in Colombo Municipality area, Sri Lanka.
Client: Ministry of Water Supply, National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB).
Position held: Project Manager/Team Leader (June 2020 to date); Deputy Team Leader (May2018-June 2020)
Main project features: Redesign, replacement of 100 years old distribution and transmission system of around 700km, zoning (76DMA) and NRW reduction, training and capacity development.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Review and assist in redesign, replacement, and improvement of 100years old transmission, distribution system of around 700km, and reduce overall loss of water (NRW) from 49% to 18%, and develop GIS based monitoring model.
- Procurement, Project management, Contract administration (FIDIC), dispute resolution.QA/QC & safety control, training, and project monitoring.
- Support and liaison with client NWSDB, stakeholders, authorities, service providers and contractor for approvals and permitting.
- Assist PMU and PIU units in resolving contractual and technical issues.
- Review and recommend contractor’s detail design, shop drawings, bills and claims; reply to technical and contractual queries.
- Preparing progress report, project budget and technical reports, present stakeholder’s meetings.
- Assist PD, guide and coordinate engineers and other consultant specialists (NRW, ENV, Asset. Mg etc.)
Assignment or project: ADB assisted Dry Zone Urban Water & Sanitation Project (USD 160Million).
Location: Colombo (visiting North West and Northern towns)
Client: Ministry of Water Supply, (NWSDB)
Main project features: Design and construction of urban water supply and sanitation projects in Chilaw, Puttalam, Vavuniya & Mannar towns and suburbs. Construction of surface water reservoirs, river Anicuts, water and sewage treatment plants, pumping system, elevated and ground water tanks, transmission (100km) and distribution (750km), reforestation, resettlement, and development of infrastructure.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Project management, Contract administration (FIDIC), QA/QC, training, monitoring and evaluation to achieve targets.
- Liaison with Client, stakeholders, authorities, service providers and contractors for approvals and permitting.
- Present in technical, progress review and dispute resolution meetings.
- Review and assist in Design of 4 WS schemes and 3nos. WTP (each 12.5k m3/day), drawings and specification; Tender and Procurement documents.
- Ensure health, safety and environmental safeguard, and compliance of standards.
- Directing and guiding engineers, experts in finding solution to complex and unusual technical and contractual issues.
- Review and approval of contractor’s detailed design, shop drawings, bills and claims, material submission, works, and dispute resolution and ensure team performance to achieve goals and objectives.
Assignment or project: ADB assisted Dry Zone Urban water & Sanitation Project (USD 160Million).
Client: Ministry of Water Supply, National Water Supply & Drainage Board.
Main project features: Design and construction of urban water and sanitation (WASH) projects in Vavuniya & Mannar towns.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage technical design and construction processes on multi-disciplinary project.
- Project management, Contract administration (FIDIC), cost control, monitoring and evaluation.
- Design of a modern WTP (12k m3/d). Assist the design of 4NosTowers of 1-1.5k m3 and 3 Nos ground tank 3-2k m3, reservoir intake, pumps & related structures.
- Assist in analysis and design of transmission (33km +23Km PE/DI 350-560DI), distribution networks (105km + 130+90 Km) of four schemes, preparation of drawings and estimates.
- Assist in design and construction of Surface Water Reservoir, with 3.5km earth dam, spillway and radial gates.
- Stakeholder management and communication.
- Ensure design packages meet QC/QC, relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
- Review and approval of contractor's material submissions, works, bills and claim.
- Review and approval of commissioning, testing, as-built drawings, and completion documents.
Assignment or project: JICA assisted Eastern Province Water Supply Project
Role and Responsibilities: Design of water treatment plant and water distribution systems. Preparing feasibility and design report.
Main project features: Design and construction of Infrastructure; water, sewer, storm, electricity and roads.
Role and Responsibilities: Design review of Water supply, sanitary sewer and Storm sewer networks and associated structures for urban areas; Quality control, construction supervision. Review and certify of contractor's claims and bills.
(i) IFRCS funded Ampara Water Supply Project- Turnkey (US$ 15 million). Design and Construction of water supply schemes consist of four coastal towns, 250 km distribution and associated civil works.
(ii)Pottuvil Urban Water Supply Project funded by IFRC, American RC, Irish RC. Design and Construction of 1000cubm elevated water tower, 300mmDI transmission main and 20km distribution main and associated civil works.
(iii) Akkaraipattu Urban Water Supply Project funded by German Red Cross and Government of Sri Lanka. (Euro1.8M). Design and Construction of 80Km distribution pipe laying and associated civil works.
Role and Responsibilities: -
Survey, hydraulic analysis and design of distribution networks, preparation of drawings and estimates.
- Contract administration, Contract management, construction supervision, monitoring and evaluation, cost control and QA/QC.
- Coordination with client for approval of design, drawings and materials; Stakeholder communication;
- Review and approval of contractor's material submissions, works, bills and claim.

Position held: Resident Engineer (Consultant) Employer: GKW Consult GmbH, Germany /Ceywater Consultants Pvt. Ltd.
Main project features: Design and Construction of water treatment plant of 1700 cubm/ day capacity and Improvement of existing water towers, transmission and distribution system. Leak detection and reduction programme.
Role and Responsibilities: Detailed design review of distribution network and treatment plant structures. Review construction methodology. Improvement of existing water towers; transmission and distribution system. Contract administrations, Certifying of Bills for payments to contractor, Quality management, preparing MOM, and progress and technical reports.
Assignment or project: Construction of a large Friday Prayer Mosque in Dafna, Qatar.
Client: Ministry of Municipality and Agricultural Affairs, Qatar.
Main project features: Planning works, site management and construction supervision.
Role and Responsibilities: Planning and management of construction of a large Friday Prayer Mosque in Dafna and some villas in Doha. Construction supervision and quality control, implementing specifications. Prepare monthly progress reports, attending progress meetings.
