Health and Safety support of open pit gold mines and gold processing facility in second largest gold mine in Suriname
- Provide EHS consultancy to Location, sr. Management & Tembladora-Trinidad (Alcoa facility)
- Liaison with Alcoa and Latin America and Caribbean leadership regarding EHS activities.
- Schedule & provide EHS training to employees.
- Maintain safety files and records.
- Lead investigation team of accidents; injuries & near miss accidents.
- Inspect Suralco facilities for potential safety & health hazards and determine if corrective or preventative countermeasures as indicated, are followed up/implemented.
- Auditing of contractor jobs.
- Risk assessments of jobs.
- Plan & schedule emergency evacuation drills.
- Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the workers regarding EHS.
- Coordinate implementation of Human Performance Improvement process
- Provide ISO support and advice to plant leadership and management and maintain ISO certifications
- Location SPA for these Safety programs: fatality prevention; tolov; fall control; confined space; hot work; machine safe guarding.
- Monitor control systems in the control room to track Precipitation process operations.
- Start up/switch process equipment according residual life schedule.
- Ensure that equipment is running properly and targets are met.
- Test process equipment/systems for offsets and troubleshoot any problems.
- Keep interdepartmental process-control balanced between Precipitation-Digestion-Calcination-Clarification (customer-supplier).
- Field observations to ensure that processes conform to EHS &Q standards.
- Maintain records of key production variables such as volume and yield.
- Ensure safety of all crew members during process maintenance jobs
- Test / sample environmental outfalls of process stream.
- Reporting of production metrics to departmenthead.
