Riyadh Metro
September 2013-June 2014

The Riyadh metro is a proposed rapid transit system in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is planned as the backbone of the city’s public transport system. The Metro Project comprises six (6) Lines covering the Capital. Task was the design review for the mechanical systems that serve the above ground, elevated and underground stations serving the Metro and Rail lines. An extensive review with all other disciplines took place during to ensure an integrated design.

Projects for an Industrial Design & Consulting Engineering firm based in Singapore in charge of providing complete plant design, feasibility & conceptual studies, project estimates, equipment specifications, project tendering, project scheduling, drafting services, equipment manufacturing, construction management, engineering validation, commissioning & start-up procedures and forensic engineering. Major projects included tissue mills, de-inking plant, secondary fiber plant, and water treatment in Lebanon, Malaysia, Thailand, Syria, Turkey, China etc.



Responsibilities:

• Pulp and paper industry, Design of systems and machines as well as the modification of systems and equipment.
• Responsible for the design and development of the machines and for the engineering documents.
• Team leader, Manage and organize work for staff.
• Research and development of new machines.
• Re-design of existing machines to improve efficiency and reduce the cost.
• Range grouping, Standardization.

Responsibilities encompass production, quality control, maintenance, procurement, engineering, planning, safety, training, upgrades & projects for a paper & converting mill with a daily capacity of 150 tons located in Lebanon. Conduct the whole planning & management process, i.e. design, schedules, cost estimates, awarding contracts, technical reports other needed calculations for the electro-mechanical works for the new extension projects. Preparation of concepts, P&ID developments, Mass and Heat balance calculations and flow diagram etc.
•Performance calculation of the equipment and unit;
•Calculation and evaluation of utility consumption;
•System design of plants using recovered waste energy;
•Energy saving design applying inverter motors and temperature control.

Projects Worked On:

1st Project: PP1: 62 MW Power Plant consisting of 8 Wartsila 8L46B heavy fuel oil engines, For the Ministry of Electricity, Iraq.

2nd Project: PP2: 22 MW Power Plant consisting of 4 Wartsila 6L46B heavy fuel oil engines, For the Ministry of Electricity, Iraq.

3rd Project: PP3: Independent Power Plant,
Client: Port of Beirut
10 MW output consisting of 5 Cummins Diesel Engines with all the related mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design and study for the various systems related to the Power Plants
• Project commissioning & startup, engines models (Cummins, GE, Wartsila, etc.)
• Perform site inspection and carry out status report to the management.
• Ensure project quality objectives are attained within the assessed budget and time duration.
• Prepare and follow up schedules and program of works.
• Prepare detailed drawings, material submittals, RFI, RFC and relevant method statements.
• Supervise and finalize shop and as built drawings.
• Prepare BOQ, detailed quantity take-offs, progress payments, variation order, claims for extension of time & compensation for submission to general contractor and consultants.

Machinery installations, main & auxiliary engines preparation, Condition monitoring and stopping procedures, Main diesel engine propulsion system evaluation using the diesel engine combustion performance analyzer, Engine troubleshooting study and analysis, marine machinery maintenance, Fuel & oil (storage, distribution, fuel & oil pump systems, valves…), Pumping systems, cooling systems, ballast system, piping fittings, watch keeping duties.
