My responsibilities were to ensure the reliable and timely information is reported to the management & the team regarding
• The extent and the areas where material is being wasted, Identification of the key areas and working as a finance business partner with production function to provide them financial insights to the actual extent of wastage
• Working with IT team to help them design reports by identifying the key numbers
• Working with supply chain & production functions to provide information on the results caused by the updates of Bills of Materials
We discovered that previously the consideration was given to the materials that were wasted in larger percentages without giving any consideration to their values. The changes we made were to ensure we are looking at the data both in quantities & values so that the real issue of financial loss could be first dealt with and the continuous monitoring be made more meaningful. The result of this project brought down the wastage of material by a significant margin
