• Ensured the practice of Unified Method of Accounting and Reporting by the HEMAS Group in compliance with accounting and reporting regulations
• Handling monthly management accounts of all sectors covering more than 30 SBU’s
• Reporting to Board of Management of Hemas Holdings PLC, and Quarterly and Annual Statutory Group Reporting
• Overseeing the delivery of Routine and Ad-Hoc Management Information and reporting requirements of the group/individual companies covering sales, inventory, operational performance, competitor analysis, lost sales, OTIF, secondary market analysis, brand and product profitability, customer feedback and service levels
• Identifying opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, value addition in non-core processes through discussion and reviews with Business Heads and Finance Heads - eg - scrapping and sales return accounting
• Understanding customer requirements in terms of accounting, reporting and systems improvements/modifications and develop suitable solutions - eg - foreign receivable document flow, approval and accounting
• Leading the company to obtain ISO 27001 certification on Information Security as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
• Providing solution with respect to processes bottlenecks, new business requirements using SAP and technology
• Supervising teams together with Chief Process Officer to review, map and improve business processes, process efficiencies and reviewing internal controls - mapping end to end processes of inbound tour operator
• Monitoring the overall administration of Vishwa BPO with respect to payments, cash flows, working capital management and treasury
Significant Accomplishments:
• Led the migration of following processes to Shared Services:
o 2 hospitals and 2 transportation Sector Companies to SAP - This has resulted in saving of 6 finance staff of the business and resulted in revenue growth to Shared Services of 15% per annum
o Emirates Principal accounting from COMMET to SAP and making Process Improvements to Credit Control and bank Guarantee Monitoring - Saving in 1 staff and streamlined the credit control process and ensured accuracy of reporting to Principal
o Group Consolidation, Group Reporting and Rolling Forecast Activities to Shared Services - Saved 1 staff and ensured all Group reporting originates from Shared Services thus ensuring consistency, improving timeliness and enhancing reliability
o Member of team implementing of E-sourcing at HEMAS and carrying out auctions for customers - Saved in excess of Rs 200Mn for a hospital project
o Successfully completed and delivered on following:
- Member Core Team of SAP upgrade to ECC 6 and at HEMAS in 2011 and 2012 and 2015
- Member of IFRS Implementation team at HEMAS
- Heading the team implementing BPC for Entity Financial Statements in 2015/16
o Migration of entire raw material, packing material and finished goods costing of FMCG Sector to Shared Services - Saves 2 staff to the business
o Streamlining credit control and debt collection by implementing e-statements directly from SAP for customers of the Travel Company
o Generate annual savings in excess of Rs 1Mn by managing the field staff tour expense reimbursement process for FMCG and Pharmaceutical Companies
Led an assignment to provide advisory services to a leading mobile operator in connection with organisation restructuring, implementation of shared services and SAP configuration.
Involved in a long term project in the role of a Project Manager where PwC has been appointed as the Process Consultant for the ICBP (Information Communication Technology Capacity Building Programme implemented by the Government Of Sri Lanka together with ICTA (Information Communication Technology Agency).
• Led engagements to review internal controls and procedures at many public and private sector organisations
Managed and performed audits, agreed upon procedures, special assignments, investigations and due diligence assignments covering many industries such as pharmaceutical, apparel, manufacturing, transportation and energy.
Managed and carried out Compliance Audits of the Apparel industry, in accordance with local labour laws, foreign buyers' regulations and other applicable statutes.
Preparation of proposals for various services provided by the firm.
Secondment Abroad - Seconded to the PricewaterhouseCoopers office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the capacity of an Assistant Manager for a period of 8 months from February 2005. During this period I was involved in performing audits, training, special projects and IFRS training.
