Barka Plant includes
1. Two Siemens V94.2 Gas Turbines with 117 MW each.
2. One 222 MW condensing type steam turbine manufactured by Ansaldo Engria
3. Two Heat Recovery steam Generator (water tube boilers) manufactured by Ansaldo, generating 436 tons per hour of steam each
4. Three Multi Stage Flash Distillers, 20 million gallons per day
***Main Responsibilities
✓ General management of shift
✓ Communication with National Dispatch Centre of (1) Power (2) Water
✓ Communication with the suppliers of (1) Gas (2) Sea Water
✓ Power and water availability declarations
✓ Raise work orders in CMMS about the plant defects
✓ Finalizing planning for next day maintenance jobs with the help of maintenance teams
✓ Prepare and issue safety documentation for maintenance jobs on the plant
✓ Plant startups and shutdown as per requirements
✓ Supervise the plants for safe and up to date condition either plant is operating or shutdown
✓ Take actions to keep the plant in safe and efficient running conditions
✓ Guide field engineers in performing their duties
✓ Perform equipment scheduled changeovers with the help of field engineers
✓ Play the role of incident commander in case of emergency
✓ Prepare following reports;
✓ Shift reports
✓ Daily reports
✓ Daily Revenue vs fuel cost comparison report
✓ Initiate trip reports ( in case of major problem or trip of any unit for further investigation)
✓ Generate monthly invoice for Power and Water ( for capacity, energy and water exported during the month)
✓ Verification of Sea water and Gas received from the respective suppliers
Responsible for operating thermal power plant

Company, Operation& Maintenance Engineer Shift In-Charge Engineer.
The plant consists of the following
1. Three Gas Turbines frame-5
2. Eight Gas Turbines frame-6
3. Two Gas Turbines frame-9 combined along with two waste heat recovery boilers
4. Two steam turbines Back pressure type
5. Two steam turbines condensing type
6. Four water tube boilers manufactured by Hitach Zosen each generating 220 ton/ hour
7. Seven Multi Stage Flash Distillers.
***Main Responsibilities:
✓ Managing power generation and water desalination during shift of twelve hours
✓ To co-ordinate with MEDCO control, LDC control & Water Department Engineers and other consumers & contractors working in Ghubrah Power & Desalination Station.
✓ Low voltage system switching and isolations and Earthing.
✓ High voltage system switching and isolations on 6.6, 11. 33. 132 KV.
✓ High voltage system application of Circuit Main Earths on 6.6, 11, 33, 132 KV systems.
✓ Coordinating LOTO System ( LOCK OUT TAG OUT)
Operating thermal power and water desaliation plant.

Al Khamil Power Company consists of three Alstom Gas Turbines with total generation 342 MW.

✓ Managing power plant power generation during shift of twelve hours
✓ To co-ordinate with OMAN GAS COMPANY, LDC control other consumers & contractors working in Al Khamil Power Company
✓ Low voltage system switching and isolations and Earthing
✓ High voltage system switching and isolations on 6.6, 132 KV
✓ High voltage system application of Circuit Main Earths on 6.6, 132 KV systems.
✓ Coordinating LOTO System ( LOCK OUT TAG OUT)
