Senior Reservior Geologist
Missan Oil Company
Total years of experience :14 years, 2 Months
• Researches related to the geology and reservoirs of most oilfields in Missan Governorate.
• Reviewer in the Iraqi Geological Journal http://igj-iraq.org/igj/index.php/igj
• Preparing the proposals and final geological reports related to the operating oil companies in Missan.
• Participating in national conferences and workshops.
• Participating in many committees in the MOC and Ministry of Oil (MoO).
Well site Geologist in Missan Oil Company (MOC) 2010 - 2016, My Responsibilities in the Missan Oil Company were:
• Evaluating offset data before the start of drilling.
• Analyze, describe and evaluate formations while drilling, using cuttings, gas, formation evaluation measurement while drilling (FEMWD) and logging while drilling skills (LWD).
• Comparing data gathered during drilling with predictions made at the exploration stage.
• Advising on drilling hazards and drilling bit optimization.
• Taking full responsibility for making decisions about suspending or continuing drilling.
• Advising operations personnel on-site and in the operations office.
• Acting, in effect, as the representative of the onshore oil company geology team.
• Supervising mud logging, FEMWD and wireline services personnel and monitoring quality control in relation to these services.
• Monitoring and supervising core cutting operations and interpretations, and drawing the geological models environment for knowing the reservoirs extensions.
• Keeping detailed records, writing reports, completing daily, weekly and post-well reporting logs and sending these to the appropriate departments.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of measuring while drilling (MWD) tools, such as gamma and resistivity, and also supervising the wire line operations and interpretations.
. • Key skills in reservoir description and interpretation using structural geology, sedimentology (sandstone and carbonate), geophysics, petrophysics and geochemistry during a series of dedicated modules. • Practical experience of the interpretation of industry-standard seismic, wireline, core analysis, geomechanical, geochemical and petrographic data to develop an understanding of a reservoir. • Practical experience in core logging of sandstone and carbonate reservoirs for reservoir description and interpretation integrated with wireline and core analysis data. • Practical experience of the petrographic description of reservoir samples integrated with core and wireline data. • Direct experience of reservoir rocks at outcrop used as analogues to understand subsurface reservoir occurrence, distribution, internal architecture and properties. Outcrops worked on include sandstones and carbonates and cover a wide variety of environments of deposition from aeolian, through fluvial, estuarine and deltaic to marine settings. Outcrops visited range in age from Devonian, through Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous to Eocene, with outcrop data related to data from subsurface and oil- or gas-bearing equivalent rocks. • Practical software experience gained in: BasinMod for burial and thermal history modelling, Techlog and IP (Interactive Petrophysic) for wireline log and core data presentation and interpretation, CorelDraw for visualizing core description and mapping. Petrel for building 3D static models of reservoirs and CLARITAS for applied seismic interpretation. • Generic skills acquired or improved through the MSc include: planning a research or data-analysis project, performing a review of existing information and literature to professional standard, undertaking a high-level research project to publication-standard, presenting research results to a formal audience, and writing-up research results as a professional document for wide dissemination. • Also acquired skills in team-working, peer-appraisal and writing multiple linked wiki (web) pages as a way of conveying and explaining concepts and results of data analysis. • Experience gained of the roles of petroleum economics, risk assessment and the crucial question of ethics in decision-making during petroleum exploration and production.
