Early warning signs and credit risk controls
Assists in the objectives of providing sound, constructive credit and related services to Corporate/ Commercial customers. Works with account managers and customers to assess business models and strategies. Conducts high level credit analysis of large and complex entities. Prepares credit packages and recommends loan structure to Prior Approval. Participates in Large Loan process for assigned accounts. Through actions and communications, creates a positive image of Association to customers and others with whom they come into contact.
- Having exposure of HBL's overseas units located in UAE, Oman and Bahrain.
- Conducting post facto credit analysis of credit relationship and giving independent opinion on overall conduct of account, its business performance with respect to industry, financial health of relationship, and other factors that pose risk to bank.
- Evaluates the quality of corporate and SME credit portfolio qualities (PQ) and adequacy of Credit Risk Management Process (CRMP) including portfolio planning, credit assessment, credit approval process, organization and staffing, risk recognition, credit administration, and other credit related controls.
- Identifies loans having potential credit weaknesses.
- To assign appropriate rating/classification to individual loan on the basis of established loan rating/classification system, keeping in view its collectibility.
- Assesses the adequacy of the provision of impaired advances.
- Plans the scope of the Credit Review Assignment and prepares a Credit Review Work Program.
- Assists the Credit Examiners in the planning of individual assignments, to conduct the review efficiently and to address the major risks of the portfolio under review.
- Makes oral or written presentations to management during and at the conclusion of the review, discussing observations and recommending corrective action to improve conditions.
- Appraises the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve the conditions.
- Reviews and edits the Draft Review Report
- Assists in the implementation of the department Quality Assurance Program, with regard to Credit Review, to ensure that the department is functioning at a high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
- To build new business relationships and strengthen the existing ones.
- To obtain all the required and relevant information from the prospective or existing borrowers and process their credit line applications.
- To analyze borrowers’ financial statements and prepare credit proposals for approval of fresh facilities or renewal of existing credit lines from competent authorities.
- To conduct financial, corporate and industrial research through different available sources and, prepare and submit report of findings to the superiors.
- To ensure that the department’s financial records and documents are kept and maintained as per requirements of our Credit Administration Department, Bank’s Credit Policy Manual, State Bank of Pakistan Prudential Regulations and others policies and procedures adopted from time to time.
- To deal with internal/ external auditors and credit administrators, correspondences with Bank’s Corporate Offices, State Bank of Pakistan and other regulatory bodies over their related issues.
- To analyze financial statements and prepare credit proposals.
- To control and supervise the clients’ portfolio, and make follow-ups to ensure that the outstanding loans are being paid and adjusted in due course of time.
Completed internship for a period of two months at IDBP, Regional Office, Karachi. A detailed orientation regarding all the departments’ operations has been gained.
