and Responsibilities as Material Inspector
• Field laboratory set-up, organization, maintenance, and operation.
• Supervision of site assistants performing sampling and testing of materials.
• Review and approval of Material source and supplier as per spec requirements
• Perform sampling, testing, record keeping, and reporting in accordance with Project Plans and Specifications
• Inspection & conformation material as per approved submittal.
• Client Policy and Procedures Directives.
• Materials Testing Manual AASHTO, ASTM & BS Standard Methods of Sampling and Testing

• Copy all test results to the Resident Engineer and Contractor.
• Report any failing or “borderline” test results immediately to the Resident
Engineer.
• Coordinate with the Inspector in charge of the work to confirm approval of the work for testing and discuss areas of concern.
• Coordinate with the Contractor on work priorities and schedules.
• Perform sampling and testing as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid undue delay to the Contractor’s operations.
• Perform regular checks of material delivered to the project for conformance with the approved source or supplier.
• Maintain neat accurate records.
• Monitor the frequency and number of tests required for every operation.
Carry out daily inspections request of contractor works and sign off the relevant part of the contractor's RFI's.
Raise any non-conformances or poor workmanship with the RE in a timely manner.
Inspection of road works i.e. .cutting filling, preparation of embankment, subgrade, sub base, Asphalt Base course, Wearing Course, Kerbstone fixing pedestrian walkways, road marking and sign boards fixing
Check and review the plans & specifications for the proper construction & quality implementation at job site, perform pre-inspection to ensure that all installed materials are within the standard in conformance to applicable drawings & specification.
Duties and Responsibilities as Civil Inspector
• Ensure performance of the work in strict accordance with the plans and specifications.
• Maintain a detailed diary of the day’s work activities, issues, work approved or rejected, hours of operation, labor and equipment used, etc., and sign at the end of each day.
• Coordinate with the Contractor’s foreman in charge of the work on a daily basis to check on the proper execution of the work.
• Coordinate with the Survey Party Chief to check the line and grade of completed work for conformance with the plans and specifications.
• Report to the Resident Engineer any failure of the Contractor to conform to plans and specifications and to provide good workmanship.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed by the contractor on a Day Works basis.
• Issue instructions to the Foreman in charge of the work and do not argue with the Contractor or his representatives.
• Notify the Resident Engineer of conditions that render it impractical or unreasonable to enforce the specifications.
• Enforce performance of the work in strict accordance with the approved Safety Plan.
• Check detours and traffic control zones for proper placement of signs, barricades, and lights.
