1. Monitors physician orders / prescriptions/drug profiles to ensure dispensing of
pharmaceuticals, identification and correction of potential allergic reactions and
drug interactions/incompatibilities.
2. Prepares, checks and dispense:
• Unit dose and traditionally dispensed medications.
• Floor stock requests.
• Manufactured and repacked products.
• Outpatient medication prescriptions and patient discharge medication.
3. Check expiry dates, short-dated and overstocked pharmaceuticals and report
them to pharmacy supervisor.
4. Participate in the inventory of pharmacy stocks.
5. Participates in the pharmacy continuing education program.
6. Operates computer for all data entry and generates labels and reports.
7. Coordinates technician ad pharmacy supportive staff preparing medications for
accuracy and quality prior to dispensing in all areas.
8. Coordinates technician and pharmacy supportive staff activities in the work
areas.
9. Insures the pharmacy and other pre-designated areas of drug storage are
stocked, equipped and maintained in accordance with appropriate regulations.
10. Works on special projects as assigned.
11. Provides medication information to medical /nursing personnel.
12. Provides patient and family education up on request.

14.Performs monthly inspection of medical storage areas other than the
pharmacy.
15.Assists in supervision and teaching of ancillary assigned personnel and
orientation of new pharmacy personnel.

knowledge, skills and abilities.
Preparing medication orders by compounding or admixing medications.
• Checking all orders for completeness of information.
• Verifying patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Ensuring orders are completed in an accurate and timely manner, per
department guidelines.
• Calculating correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and
apothecary equivalents.
• Maintaining daily controlled drug counts.
• Properly disposing all materials used when mixing chemo or non chemo
IVs.
• Logs and dates all drugs used.
• Checks drugs monthly for expiration date and other quality assurance
activities as assigned.
• Keeping accurate temperature logs.
• Keeps accurate logs on all protocol drugs.
• Completes inventory control of medications with review of established
Inventory levels for a minimum & maximum quantity of all drugs based
on department guidelines.
• Receiving medications completes expiration review.
• Properly and accurately returns all soon-to-be expired drugs to drug
supply distributor.
• Assisting in ensuring that standard drug supplies are in adequate
supply in all departments.
• Assisting in the ordering process of all drugs for the department, under
the direction of the supervisor and/or manager, per department ordering
guidelines.
• Preparing labels for drugs as needed per department guidelines.
