Responsibilities
• Offered leadership in planning and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for submission to the donor that guided decision making and realignment of implementation strategies.
• Coordinated with departments and other stakeholders on issues of compliance and adherence to regulatory reporting requirements such as tax fillings and declarations.
• Provided much needed technical guidance to program and management team members on program financial management guidelines and good corporate practices of interest to donors.
• Provided explanations and successfully defended all project expenses during external annual audits and monthly voucher verification exercises by the donor to ascertain the eligibility of expenses thus saving the organization from making a loss due to ineligible expenses.
• Offered hands on training, coaching sessions to staff on best financial management practices, documentation requirements and donor interests.
• Developed work tools, policy documents and mechanisms to ensure smooth operations and high-level compliance to the internal processes
